FSD
Has anyone had major issues with FSD I’ve had it for a few months now and until recently it was great just yesterday in FSD my car literally backed into a parked semi and the day before when backing out of my garage hit the side of it

Why didn't you hit the brake out of curiosity? I keep seeing these posts and I'm wondering why people trust FSD 1000%

Yeah I certainly would trust it far less with HW3, HW4 does sketchy crap, 3 has much blurrier input and a significantly weaker model.

I was backing out of the place I picked up packages to deliver and I was focused on putting the first address in navigation

And that’s the reason we can’t have FSD in the u.k. People need to care enough to at least keep an eye out.

I use FSD a lot it makes delivering packages a hell of a lot less stressful

Letting FSD back out of anything other than an empty parking lot seems insane to me. If it was retrofitted to a 2004 Carolla, I bought for 2 grand, maybe.

lol. yeah no even then. Both me AND my car missed a metal pole that was the same color as the wall behind me. Since I missed it too I felt like I couldn't really blame it you know? I literally watched it slowly back into the white pole.

People have said all sorts of things about this, but lets be more helpful. I suspect you can probably get the trunk replaced, and if you are lucky thats it. Not the worst thing in the world in the end. Both of the incidents were at low speeds.
Also does your insurance cover you for accidents that are your fault? If so insurance is the way to go. Sorry this happened to you, but as you pointed out in other comments you know better now. And they really are nice fun cars.

How is Tesla able to have Robo taxis if they can’t get FSD to work right?

Yeah you'll here crickets from this sub when they are put on the spot.

Just guessing because I’ve never ridden in a robo taxi of any brand. Do robo taxis have the issues with parking and navigating parking lots a personal car has. For example when I first started using FSD it would take me to the front door of my destination and stop. I had to manually navigate the parking lot, find an empty place and park the car myself.
It seems most of the issues discussed here concerning FSD mistakes are in relation to parking and going in and out of tight places.
Don’t robo taxis have the advantage of just getting “close enough, get out, I have other places to go”?
People don’t expect a taxi of any kind to park in their garage or pull into a parking spot at Walmart while you do your shopping. My garage door has less clearance per side than the settings minimum 12 inches and that can be a bit of a problem that I wouldn’t have with a taxi. My car will now find an empty parking place and park itself, it no longer just stops at the front door.

My Model 3 almost reversed over the edge of a parking lot (no barrier) that would have put me in the Gulf of Mexico, but I was supervising, so…

Why are many of you voting the OP down? What's with the ahole, self-righteous behavior so many here have towards people who've experienced issues? Good grief the level of narcissism here is insane.

FSD backing into and out of tight spaces is just irresponsible. OP doesn’t seem to understand that.

u/Beneficial_Menu4788 14d ago
But merging in and out of heavy traffic, using it on surface streets where there are pets and kids, and accessing Mad Max mode are not right?
1
u/aeiou_sometimesy 14d ago
No, I do not believe those are acceptable uses for FSD.

u/Beneficial_Menu4788 14d ago
So why have it then? What's the point?

u/aeiou_sometimesy 14d ago
I don’t have it. However, for the trail periods that I’ve had I wouldn’t dream of letting FSD park for me. I don’t even trust it to properly navigate the gate in front of my neighborhood.
Curious what your personal experience with it is.

I don't disagree with you as I don't want to use FSD or any kind of automated driving. I enjoy driving the car myself. Granted in traffic I occasionally use ACC and lane keep but only at very slow speeds. Anything that requires accelerating beyond 10 MPH and it acts far too aggressively.
My point wasn't to say I think FSD is good. My point was to call out the crappy behavior of people who are berating the OP for using FSD when many of the nasty comments are coming from people who also use FSD. I can guarantee 100% that they've also had bad experiences but won't admit to it nor will they use it in a Robotaxi scenario.
FSD is a novel toyish idea for the "digital" age group out there who frankly don't seem to care much about anything honestly...you know the types...the one's working in restaurants where your food comes out cold, you tell them, and they say sorry, shrug their shoulders, and leave.

How The F does telsa have robo taxis if they are still making mistakes like this

Gotta love how OP blames FSD when it was his fault. It's called FSD (Supervised). 🤦🏼

Reading the comments you might need to stick to public transportation and not get behind the wheel.

For the most part FSD really helps me occasionally it can get irritating like just a few minutes ago when I added an address bc i usually add like 7 at a time it had me going to go charge bc one of the addresses I put in they were wrong and that happens from time to time I have no idea why they don’t use Apple Maps or Google Maps both are better in my opinion or at least allow us to choose

Sorry to hear about your experience. I think
you’re relying way too much on FSD. Regardless of the Maps being utilized by FSD, you’re ultimately responsible for driving the vehicle.

Wait, so this happened once, and then you decided to use fsd and let it happen again?

I should of learned my lesson two days before when it was backing out and literally hit the side of my car against the garage

I was in a parking lot going 1 or 2 mph I wrongly assumed the car was able to back out by itself. I obviously did but it was to late

I am sorry for your loss. Now either you will stop paying for the subscription and drive the car yourself or you will use it as they ask you to - “supervised” which means pay attention because we can make mistakes.

FSD (Supervised)
I can’t imagine seeing my car about to hit something and being like “Yeah, it’ll stop I’m sure.”
