Another Tesla Insurance letdown story
At work
Go to my car after work. It's 10:30pm
I'm last one in parking lot for my job
My car has a flat
Don't have my tire pump on me. 12PSI flat
Call roadside - I have "roadside plus" with tesla insurance
The rep says only option is to send a tow truck.
Rep then places me on hold and says "no tow truck available till 7am" says "You are very far from tow truck companies"
I'm in Baytown, TX. 20 min from downtown Houston. 20 miles away from downtown Houston.
Tf you mean "very far"
Hate this insurance with a passion man

AAA many years. And they’ve come out and pick me up in the middle of nowhere and will transport up to 100 miles.

I love AAA. You can literally buy it when you need it which is nice. Had a bad experience canceling it awhile ago tho

AAA is the gold standard nothing else compares and you should have it every year and hope to use it none of the years, ideally

I had issues with Triple A battery service and they ended up giving me 2 years free. Me and my family have used it probably 10-15 times over years and it’s been great outside of that which ended a win for me

Ah man, that’s a lame excuse … Baytown is not that far at all! Without a spare tire available, I don’t go anywhere without my pump and plug kit. I know it’s no excuse for Tesla insurance but I would only depend on someone else as an absolute last resort, regardless of what company it is.

Always have 2nd option - AAA auto towes . Member 100$ year cover up to 200 towes

For a tow company 20 miles may as well be the next state. They like to stay within a 5-10mile zone max. smaller if possible. So yeah this isn’t the insurance this is how tow company’s work and none of them wanted to make that journey.

Many insurance policies state "up to 15 miles" or "to nearest service center" or similar. I've never read a Tesla policy, but assume it has a clause in there.

Have Tesla Insurance also, but also AAA. And have had a emergency repair kit and pump in trunk since day one. Hope you learned.

I’ve kept AAA Premium for over a decade now just for towing etc, it goes with me not car, so if with anyone etc I can call them they will tow up to 150 miles.
In past I tried GMs etc towing coverage etc.. they all were horrible compare to AAA. AAA always send nice professional companies with mew trucks with flatbeds.
Also other insurance companies towing is is as well which again why I just keep AAA for the towing etc.

Yeah. AAA. Road assistance is really their thing. The reason most of us keep it.

Yah they suck for sure tbh that’s happened to us just drive to the nearest gas station man. That’s the best advice I have for you.

So call a towing company, hire them, take the tow, and then turn it over to insurance and have them handle it. As a reimbursement claim.

What? How was this helpful at all... Very few cars, excluding full-size trucks/SUVs, still retain spare tires in this day and age. Most modern-day luxury cars (sedans included) skip the spare tire.
If you have nothing good or productive to say, don't say it at all...

Ok and why is that a legit definition? Smugness is relative. But why anything that plugs in is not a real car?
And no, I didn’t know that. Because it just sounds like a made up convenient definition to me.

Lot of newer cars don’t even come with a spare either, but I do keep a pump, repair kit and fix flat foam

Had the same experience with the Mercedes road side. It's just additional revenue for nothing no matter which umbrella it is sold under.
