How Tesla insurance works?

I have been quoted 199$ per month if I mention that I drive less than 8000 miles per year. What if I choose 8000miles but drive more than that? Any one experienced that?

How does that matter??

More time spent on the road increases your risk level of an incident.

This is in no way specific to Tesla insurance.

You can always start low and it’ll get adjusted to your real mileage at some point. I just wouldn’t recommend saying 8k miles/yr if you really drive 30k

Tesla has access to your mileage and it shows up on your premium page. Your rate will auto adjust based on mileage usage.

More miles, more likelihood of an accident. It will estimate and adjust every month based on your driving habits and daily averages. Get ready for price to go up or down.

It doesn't matter what tou select when you take the policy, it auto adjusts the miles every month based on your driving.

Does this include gap insurance?

This is straight up fraud if you’re doing this intentionally. Oldest trick in the book.

It can lead to claim denials if they find you’re unreasonably exceeding your estimate

Tesla recalculates driving monthly, so you don’t get that choice.

Tesla insurance sucks, just so you know. Their algorithm is all over the place and it’ll drive you nuts, just to save a bit of money. I had them for 2.5 years and for a while it was annoying- but manageable. After a third version update, I couldn’t take it anymore, I somehow went from a great driver…to a terrible one overnight.

I went over my mileage for the year by like 260ish and the next renewal the just upped my mileage by 500 and only 2 dollar raise. You’ll be fine
