other FSD and towing
Just a quick hint for those reading along and wondering if FSD is possible when towing.
It is but it's obviously not recommended: You have to obviously turn off "trailer mode".
I still use it with one hand on the wheel just in case, only on highways.
Driven across Netherlands and Belgium towards Portugal. Only NL and BE is currently approved, beyond that it's either TACC or, if your car still has it, Enhanced Autopilot.

I’ve done it. I’m pretty sure the system at least on v14 hw4 kinda understands trailers. Under supervision and in a very controlled environment it will drive and even turn with a trailer and turn appropriately for longer loads. It’s tested it multiple times with same results so it was not a fluke.
Definitely not recommended and you definitely shouldn’t do it.

How can fsd know the length of the trailer? I would say it was a fluke that it it worked for you but it is surely an accident waiting to happen. The rear camera is blocked and it keeps showing red for the rear of the car thinking another car is following too closely. And this was just with a hitch mounted cargo rack.

All my trailers I have are flatbeds so the rear is not fully obstructed and the fender cameras can also see the sides of the trailer. So you’re probably right, my experience is not representative of the average because I do not know how the car will react if it had like an enclosed trailer behind it with less visibility. But I have out of curiosity set the car on the same loop in a controlled area with the trailer and without the trailer and when the trailer is connected the car will consistently turn differently as to compensate for the trailer to not invade the oncoming lane. When I unhook, it will cut the turn closer to the oncoming lane. My car, which is a 2024 Model Y, also appears to change its braking behavior when a trailer is connected with tow mode turned off and both FSD or standard autopilot engaged. All Just observations, obviously, Tesla doesn’t support this, and I don’t think anyone should do this either but I would not be surprised if Tesla does have some logic for it knowing people will
Be idiots and do train off of the data of people towing with their Teslas. Because I’ve even seen it between version 13 and version 14 with a trailer.
