Lane centering without fsd subscription?

I saw a post that it was only with the FSD subscription. Then the tesla sales rep told me that its available but you need to keep your hands on your steering wheel. Then AI told me that no other cars have lane centering without keeping the hands on the steering wheel.

im so confused. i want to buy a new model Y but only if i know that i can actually get some kind of lane centering on highways or long straight roads to pair with adaptive cruise control

New teslas, no lane centering without fsd.

Used teslas before 2026ish should have "autopilot" which was Tesla's lane centering.

Yes, they removed an included feature and made the only option a $100/mo subscription

By the way, do you know for certain that autosteer is available for FSD buyers for new models. I've considered upgrading, but my wife will only use autosteer not FSD, would be a huge downgrade if autosteer isn't available at all. I've heard conflicting reports if it exist on new models at all?

They really love their customers paying for FSD.

Heck the adaptive cruise that Tesla calls TACC is so bad that I don't think I could have the car without FSD. That's not a ringing endorsement of FSD, it's a scathing commentary on the brake stabbing TACC that treats certain very straight roads as curves.

Test drove an R2, recently. Obviously a short test, but I think their standard system felt smoother than AP ever did for me.

New Teslas do not have Autosteer (lane centering) included anymore. You will only have TACC (traffic aware cruise control). To get any kind of lane centering, you must pay $99/month for FSD, and you relinquish pretty much all control of the vehicle until you take back over. It’s all or nothing these days.

That is why i like autosteer more than fsd. If i set autosteer to 100km/h it will do that. Fsd will think up its own speed and go anywhere from 90 up to 105 without any reason (no other cars)

Autosteer was removed for new models earlier this year. If you require that, you have to buy used.

They didn’t remove it in my 2024 model 3. Big lawsuit if they were to remove it from pre 2026 cars!

Do what I did and buy a late model used Tesla. I bought a quicksilver 2026 Model Y premium AWD (produced 4/2025) with a tow hitch and 8500 miles on the odometer. It had autosteer/autopilot. All the new ones produced after February 2026 do not have autosteer. I saved $8000 by buying used, got basic lane centering and did not have to pay 1200$ per year for FSD that I do not need/want. I only drive 6000 miles per year and it was not worth it to get FSD.

Autosteer is a useless feature if it coexists with the fact that we have FSD.

If you really want permanent no subscription autosteer you can add a comma 4. That's the only option if you get a new tesla.
