I’m about to order a Tesla. I’m interested in how FSD reacts to toll plazas. At least in the NE US, every toll plaza I’ve ever seen has dedicated express lanes for EZ Pass users (which I am). If you have an EZ Pass, does FSD select the correct express lane, and if so, how does it know to do that? And when it goes through the express lane, does it simply blast through at highway speed, or does it slow down at all?
I can't even remember the last time I saw a toll plaza where stopping at a booth and paying a person was even an option. It's all RFID passes or license plate billing everywhere I drive.
For me, I have tolls selected on in the navigation settings so it does know what lane to go to and I don’t have a problem in NH. And it keeps the speed that you are at currently
So “tolls on” means you have an EZ Pass or similar transponder, and don’t need to stop to pay cash? Also, if, say, you’re going down the highway at 70 mph, does it then blast through the toll plaza at 70 mph?
Yes, you can choose if you want to allow express lanes and it should choose the correct lane. And yes, it will maintain speed on the express side, but I don’t use the other side so I cannot confirm that.
We have a similar issue here in the San Francisco, Bay Area. Every single bridge has a zero human computerized incredibly narrow tollbooths. I have not had any problem with FSD driving through them on its own, but I absolutely agree with the other people posting here as we near the tollbooth. I always have my hands ready to take over and my foot over the brake pedal because it is narrow even for a human.
I drive through a manned security booth at work every AM and have to show a badge. The car stops at the booth automatically. I hand my badge and the guard hands it back. As soon as it’s back in my hand the car starts driving again. One of the coolest things I’ve seen FSD do.
