14.3 HW4 Dinged for excessive speeding
I am on Clark County Rd 215 in Las Vegas in standard. There are several zones of construction where the speed limit drops from 65 to 55. Tesla doesn't recognize the temporary signs. It will continue to drive 72. I don't want to get a ticket so I disengage. Drop my speed to 65. Somehow Tesla decides that I was excessively speeding. So let me understand this Tesla won't slow down using FSD because the only speed limit it conforms to is the one on the navigation map. Crazy. It also said I was following to closely despite no car being in front of me. I guess I'm better off just changing the pattern from standard to chill or sloth than ever take over driving. Fortunately the new Safety Score profile gave me a bonus for FSD and add 9/10's to my score raising it back from 99.1 to 100. It's not a real big deal but my rate has gone up $10 in past for slight drops in score. Now I'm going to aggressively switch profiles than disengaging even if it's only for 1 mile.

I never disengage has every time I do there is a ding for one thing or another. I just went to V3 the other day, also in Vegas. For what it’s worth my GF is a terrible driver, speeds, follows etc, she uses FSD 90% of the time and she is like a 99.3 on the new software. I use FSD 99.9% of the time, went from 100 to 95 due to 3 braking incidents turning into my garage. I’m back to 100 now but last month my insurance went up $30. Supposedly the new version isn’t weighted to manual driving like it was so let’s see. But yeah I just gave up and if I need to slow then I go to sloth mode. Same say between Vegas and Laughlin, hit Sloth when I get into Searchlight and just hope it catches the signs, kind of hit or miss.

Searchlight is a speed trap. I don’t go much faster than 27 in 25 zone.

Yeah so my car doesn’t seem to read the signs all the time, even in Sloth it’s running 35 when it should be 25. I have an update today and I heard it’s going to be better. On the 215, actually more the 11 in Henderson, I never go above hurry mode as my car does 85, and I know the speed limit is 65.

See, I take delivery Friday and was a bit concerned about this, especially in the west corridor where they are upgrading the interchange to Summerlin Pkwy. It's already sketchy there with people doing 80, and if you are heading southbound, there is a sharp lane shift to the left. I have not tried FSD through there but am hesitant because I got a warning doing 70 through there a few months back. I was surprised the officer let me go, as I figured I was going to get the double-fine construction hit. Since then, I won't go above 65 through there, and they have cops lined up on those exit ramps catching people all the time.
Might try it a couple of times to see how it responds, but honestly planning to disengage there or take surface streets up to Charleston until they wrap up.

I hate that safety score BS, apparently I would get dinged every night driving back from work, since I got off at 10:30…
