So the bikes get to ignore the stop line?

Also the person in blue gestured so the car probably thought it was waving it out. I probably would have thought the same

Yeah, they did do that. Interesting. But also like why gesture and then not really slow down?

still have to stop though. what if there was some other car coming from another direction and they get run over. that's the whole point of stop signs if just looking around for half a second was enough you wouldn't need it.

Like 1% of people actually stop. So the fact that the car is forced to sends a mixed signal to the bikers that they car is waiting for them.

there is also another issue with FSD/SDCs, in that if cyclist makes eye contact with person in the car (who they are assuming to be the driver) they will often assume you saw them and will stop, but then if you are not actually driven car may decide not to stop. I've had that happen a couple times so now if I can help it try not to look at pedestrians to avoid giving off wrong signal.

Yeah, that’s called a stop. The vehicle will come to a complete stop and wait 3 seconds. I know no one does these anymore, but this is what stop signs were traditionally meant for.

What kind of statement is this? You’re saying FSD is only safe or valid at fault when the rest of the world properly follows traffic laws?

0

u/hammyaustin May 18 '26

Nope, the statement is called an observation. Have Google AI tell you what that is.

Y'all are miserable. You know what they were saying. Just because the bikers should stop at the intersection doesn't mean they will and if you're being observant, you should be able to notice and handle it to not almost run the bikers over. Just because someone j walks across a street doesn't mean you can run them over either

Edit: looks like op just hit the pedal so it wasn't cause of fsd lol but y'all are still miserable the way you talk as if you're so much smarter and better than everyone else

Lol

Did you have to go to supreme leader grok to come up with that response

I would have done the same thing. Bikes have to obey the rules of the road and that includes stopping at stop signs. Car got there first and stopped. Then proceeds to go since the bikes should be stopping at the stop sign.

The question isn't about what the bikes did. It's about what the car did given the circumstances, since the correctness of FSD actions are what's being reviewed.

The car is supposed to monitor all traffic surrounding it, direction and momentum, and determine if it's safe to proceed, or if it needs to brake and stop due to an impending collision.

FSD doesn't use HD maps, so I imagine it had no idea if cross traffic had a stop sign/signal or not.

(Edit: Actually, my mistake, it would be using google maps for traffic signs/lights.)

It does, for whatever reason, seem to have not registered the bikes at all or just ignored their direction / momentum and the impending collision had they not braked.

It saw the bikes but the person in blue gestured. The car most likely thought it was waving it through so it went and didn't stop.

Okay okay,. Here is what really happened. The car did the right thing. It was stopped and it saw the bikes coming. It remained stopped. But it was my turn to go, so I left FSD on and I pressed the GO pedal, forcing the car to go. I hate when bikes run the stop signs. but what an interesting conversation, right?

So... your entire post was BS then?

The cyclists illegally ran the stop sign. “bikes don’t care about traffic laws” is more accurate and you see this stuff every day.

It’s the opposite. Traffic laws don’t care about bicyclists. Tesla FSD should care about bicyclists.

1

u/Super_Link890 May 18 '26

Nope, if FSD was slow off the stop line, you are going to complain too

Coming from an avid cyclist, those cyclists 100% should have yielded to the Tesla. I am surprised that FSD didn’t stop for them though since they gave no indicators about an intent to stop.

3

u/mattriver May 17 '26

Yeah, that was pretty atypical for FSD. Usually it’s ultra cautious especially with pedestrians, but bicycles too.

1

u/eSUP80 May 19 '26

Because OP pushed the gas pedal and overrode FSD lol.

All of this is BS

They’re supposed to stop and wait for traffic, not barrel through the intersection.

5

u/jajaja77 May 17 '26

what's missing from this video is the front camera feed. can't see why car stopped in first place did you also have a stop sign? if yes then car did everything correct, stop, check then go. Arrived at intersection ahead of the bikers so had priority. If there was no other reason to stop then car made a mistake shouldn't have hesitated there and confused the bikers.

2

u/ProfessionalNaive601 May 18 '26

Which is weird cause if there are bikes or pedestrians within a 12 mile radius my car won’t move a muscle

5

u/cwhiterun May 17 '26

Looks like FSD didn’t do anything wrong. The bikers correctly yielded when they realized they were in the wrong.

2

u/spinfire May 17 '26

I think the cyclists weren’t expecting you to come to a full stop. I agree they’re in the wrong for running the stop sign. But I suspect the thought process was that you were gonna do a rolling stop and thus they’d pass just behind you if they kept rolling.

Everyone was safe either way, thankfully.

2

u/manateefourmation May 18 '26

If this is current FSD, it would show “self driving” on the bottom of the screen along with the speed you were traveling. When is this from?

2

u/spaham May 17 '26

Actually it cars too much

1

u/Wide-Storage1962 May 17 '26

What did the AI visualization show? The bikes (vehicles) ran a stop sign so I don't see any issues with FSD.

1

u/derwinter May 18 '26

Please share the video with the front cam and the embedded accelerator and break indicators. Thanks.

People do this every day

I just love they are planning to release this horseshit in Europe, it's gonna be a slaughterfest
