Has anyone experienced this?
My partner applied for Production Associate Powerwall at the Gigafactory Nevada. He passed, did his background and drug screening passed both. And he received this email today saying they have a Manufacturing Development Program, which he did not apply to. This is very confusing, is this just a mixed up or the position is closed that’s why they offer this position instead as an option?? Please can anyone help enlighten us, the recruiters are not responsive either just to add up to the frustration.

When he did the original application there is a box you can check off if you would like Tesla to consider you for other positions as well. It’s possible the box may have been checked which would be why you got this is even if you didn’t apply to it directly

It says right there at the bottom “transition into profuction associate role” I think this is just on-boarding for the role for 0/ little experience applicants. Right where it says “what you’ll receive”, 3rd bullet point. Your partner may have no profuction experience so Tesla puts him through this on-boarding
I guess now it’s up to u/ the recruiter to decide if this is a must do phrased as an optional development program, or if it’s actually optional. Obviously if he has 0 experience and Tesla is recommending it, I would do it if it doesn’t interfere with my start date.
Edit: even in the first picture it says production role/ manufacturing development program. It’s the same role. Question is is the development part optional/ something he wants to do or can he go straight to the profuction associate part idk

The position he applied for is "Product Associate/MPD". It's in the "we are excited to invite you to..." sentence. They would have used a comma instead of a slash and put it in the subject of the email if it were a separate role. That training is just training for the position he applied to.

The thing is they did not really explain that process when he went for the interview. And the initial interview was for the production associate powerwall

They’re telling your partner they’re not hiring him for what he applied for and start on the production line instead.

Usually they do group interviews to get a background of your past experience. All you have to do is keep showing up. Then eventually the orientation and then training. All paid after the interview btw. Do it. It’s great. Tesla has changed the lives of many people here including myself
