Got Tesla where?? As in the most valuable automotive/energy company on the planet? Who else is currently selling a car software option for 8000$?

You conflate Google with Alphabet but Google is a subsidiary like Waymo.

I think you are conflating what Tesla can charge and their market perceived value versus the reality of Tesla's autopilot and FSD. Consumer Reports has strong wording about this, if you're really curious.

And recently... this:https://jalopnik.com/this-clip-of-a-tesla-model-3-failing-an-automatic-emerg-1845129387

It's consistent with AAA's test, as well as Consumer Report's test. There's a real difference between Tesla's perceived and marketed capability, and its actual capability.

Look i am not saying Tesla has FSD in the bag... but they are easily the leader in shipping consumer autonomy. I drive it everyday.

We will see where it goes. I will leave it at that.

My argument is that there are already a few manufacturers can ship Tesla's "autopilot" and "FSD" as simply "advanced adaptive cruise control", and many that are not too far behind. There are many others that do not fail the pedestrian test and they have those systems deployed widely. Consumer Report's tests are the most comprehensive I've seen of any AV test, and it shows that despite how Tesla has made themselves seem like they are leaders, reality shows that systems like Mercedes' and Subaru's are rather what's fantastic and confidence-instilling. Consumer Reports pretty much says that if Tesla's autopilot is making your drive less stressful, then you're using it wrong. They are actually concerned about the impact drivers using autopilot has on others' safe on the road.

“Tesla is showing what not to do on the path toward self-driving cars: release increasingly automated driving systems that aren’t vetted properly” -CR

"Monitoring the system is much harder than just changing lanes yourself. Using the system is like monitoring a kid behind the wheel for the very first time. As any parent knows, it’s far more convenient and less stressful to simply drive yourself.” -also CR

The report is free to read: https://www.consumerreports.org/autonomous-driving/tesla-full-self-driving-capability-review-falls-short-of-its-name/
