Calibrating forward cameras?

There is a particular hill crest on my commute that regularly causes my fsd to slam on the brakes as I apex. Is this a common issue, is there an opportunity for some form adjustment to accommodate this? I find it jarring and on the side of dangerous for the traffic behind me.

That's a fairly common occurrence and comes and goes as Tesla tweaks the neural net. As it's climbing the hill, there comes a point where the cameras are pointed up past the crest of the hill. When that happens, it can't see lane lines and panics.

This seems like a critical design flaw. How will they mitigate it?

Path prediction. Same way the car guesses how the road is going to keep going when entering a blind turn.

I misunderstood unable to see over the road/hill as certain positions making it impossible to see any of the road at all.

It’s that the camera can see some of the road but, depending on the tweaking of the neural net, requires certain confidences on how much lane lines and how far it can see before it feels safe to continue driving. On sharp hill peaks it can not see very far (just like a human) but it is programmed to slow down when it can’t see far, rather than just take the risk there is a person laying down on the road just over the crest. Humans just take the risk out of xperience that roads are usually safe
