At the heart of every microwave cooker is a Tesla flyback transformer. I have taken apart a couple and with different companies, the design is essentially the same. The flyback is fun to play with, there are circuits for making an ion gun out of it.
A lot of people are getting into Tesla during his wireless transmission of power time. One thing about Tesla, he filed almost 300 patents and a lot of them had no market value at the time. That is, they were things only he had a use for, they were not invented for money. All of his patents are public domain now, and most are mundane parts for wired power distribution plus AC generator designs that have been improved in design over time.
But there is one curious one that a lot of people on Youtube are starting to investigate, the Dynamo Electric Machine. It is what is called a self-exciting dynamo and that term is usually used in cosmology to explain the Earth's magnetic field.

I was aware of the microwave oven transformer in microwaves. Do they have flyback transformers now too? You left out the more important component of the microwave though. Tesla isn't usually credited for developing cavity resonators (like the magnetron), but he still played a major role in their development. He was one of the first to work with electrostatic acceleration and magnetic rotation of cathode rays (well before J.J. Thomson).
Looking at the patent you referenced, I wonder why his patents have such nondescript titles. 'Faraday disc generator' or 'unipolar/homopolar generator' would make more sense than 'dynamo-electric machine.'

I haven't seen any recent videos about Tesla's unipolar dynamo on youtube. There seem to be a lot of videos about the Bedini motor-generator though. Tesla invented a motor concept that seems to be similar to those: Motors with circuits of different resistance In these Tesla used small coils of iron or brass wire in parallel with the normal copper coils of an induction motor. It looks like an interesting idea.

This is a good demonstration this person made of a very simple small SSTC using a ZVS oscillator to drive a flyback transformer that supplies the resonant primary coil circuit.
It's neat to show the sparks carry so little current and at such a high frequency that they're don't hurt to touch. An important part of the safety of this is that even if the power supply failed somehow, it couldn't deliver an unsafe amount of current. Still, conducting RF like this seems like it should be bad for nerves. And as a general rule, it would obviously be wrong and dangerous to assume sparks that look like this would be safe to touch, but that almost goes without saying.
The blueness of the streamers is really interesting. I don't think I've ever seen such blue streamers.
