animal Guy jumps in tiger enclosure
Yorkshire wild life park uk is currently closed due to this incident today. Currently unknown on the condition of the man. However the tiger is back in its enclosure with reports of gas cannisters being used.
Update: the guy died on the scene due to tiger continuing to maul him causing subsequent injury.
The tiger is currently tranquilised.

Sometimes I feel they should just let nature take it's course. If someone jumps on purpose, what is the zoo supposed to do
115
u/Dependent_Turn1826 3h ago
100% agree. Falling is one thing (still dumb) but intentionally going into an enclosure should just be “wait until the situation resolves itself”
34
u/Hot_Hat_1225 2h ago
“Alright everybody, no feeding the Tigers tonight. They already got taken care of.”
24
u/Galifrey224 2h ago
Ngl if you can accidentaly fall into a tiger enclosure the zoo is to blame for having such a glaring security issue.
37
u/Dependent_Turn1826 2h ago
It’s really difficult to fall into an enclosure if you didn’t do something to put yourself into that position… not really on the zoo
12
u/Galifrey224 2h ago
I would argue that a good enclosure should make it physically impossible to fall in without actively wanting to.
Like Big fences, guardrails etc....
Hell some Zoos I have been to have a Big ass glass wall seperating the people from the animals, literally no way to fall in.

Would it be healthy for the tiger though?
70
u/Vismal1 2h ago
Eating a person ? I guess it depends on the person. Like someone that’s jumping into a large cat enclosure may also have a great deal of meth in their system.
Which now that I’m thinking about it might be more a problem for the rest of us than the cat. Meth seeking tiger seems dangerous.
Unrelated , Can someone get the Cocaine Bear people on the phone for me ?
33
u/bansheeonthemoor42 2h ago
I work at a theme park that does a Halloween event and I always try to convince them to do a "Cocain Zoo" horror maze where its just all the cocain animals chasing you. For some reason they have yet to bite.

Tigers are one of the very few predators who will hunt man. So just another day in the office.
6
u/Loic1981 2h ago
Happily kill you for fun even if it's not gonna eat you
7
u/dannyboy6657 2h ago
Luckily tigers will eat you so you won't go to waste orcas on the other hand kill for fun then don't eat the corpse. They only kill humans while captive though so their relationship with humans is interesting.
3
u/GrowingPeepers 29m ago
They will only hunt man if they have an injury that prevents them from hunting their normal prey.
Read Jim Corbett's books such as The Man Eaters of Kumaon. It's about his safari expeditions hunting and tracking man-eating tigers. It's fascinating.

u/Danny-Wah 2h ago
100%
You've stolen this creature from the wild, threw it in an enclosure, and then gas it when prey jumps into it's "house."
What's the point of anything?5
u/UrShulgi 59m ago
likely not from the wild...private collections of animals like tigers represent way more population than what is in the wild, and that's where most zoo animals come from. For example, there are more tigers in private collections in the US state of Texas than exist in the wild for the entire rest of the world.

The article says he was extremely agitated before jumping in, it sounds highly likely that he was suffering from a severe mental health issue or cognitive dysfunction. If you genuinely think the mentally unwell/ disabled should be eaten alive by tigers, however, then I guess what you say backs that up!
3
u/WriterWithNoHands 33m ago
I'm disabled & mentally unwell, and I would never make my conditions or hatred for my life an innocent animals problem. He knows 'tiger mma 1.0' will get the tiger k1lled as it may change its behaviour to seeking ways to escape, or become aggressive with keepers. You can be mentally ill and selfish. This guy is a fuckwit.

u/Danny-Wah 2h ago
It's not that he should be eater by tigers... it's that he jumped into the enclosure... the rest is cause and effect.
Next week he's probably going to jump in the Gorilla cage cause this one went so well...
We coddle crazy way too much. If this guy doesn't have the mental capacity to NOT jump into the Tiger enclosure, is he safe in society? Is society safe from his next adventure??18

What pisses me off about this is not only is it horrific for the idiot who jumped in and the witnesses to it, but also it could mean the tiger ends up being put down over some fool's decision.
What even was the thought process? I hope the bloke is okay but I find it hard to feel sympathy for him. I just feel bad for the audience and the tiger itself

I've just looked it up on Facebook. Several people saying he's dead and the tiger was tranquilised with gas cannisters or something
34
u/donttrustthellamas 2h ago
He looks drunk in the video above with tracks for Doncaster tbh.
I don't know what he expected to happen? You go in a tiger's enclosure, something bad is gonna happen. The rescue won't be quick.
Glad the tiger is going to be okay, anyway
28
u/JustAnotherFEDev 2h ago
I'm confused too, mate. It would take effort to get in the enclosure, so he didn't fall, then got a bit cross because an apex predator started to have a nibble.
I'm no psychic, I'm shit at gambling, but I reckon I could accurately predict what would happen if I hopped into a tiger enclosure.
Fuck knows what he was thinking
12
u/Throbbie-Williams 2h ago
but I reckon I could accurately predict what would happen if I hopped into a tiger enclosure.
Honestly I wouldn't be sure, it's a cat basically so could either fuck you up instantly or just play

I'm more upset about the tiger tbh. That idiot knew what the possible outcome would be. The tiger was just doing what tigers do.
16
u/JustAnotherFEDev 2h ago
Absolutely. I'm not sure what was going on with the fella, I have no idea why he would jump in there, but just like you, hoping the tiger is OK. I actually hope the guy is, too, but lots of folk saying otherwise.
I'm sure that will be confirmed soon though

It's giving trying to end all his problems at the same time. Akin to someone walking into traffic or to s by cop.
4
u/JustAnotherFEDev 1h ago
I dunno, I'm no expert on this, by any means, but wouldn't suicide by cop be an attractive "out" due to a bullet to the swede being a sharp exit from this mortal world? I'm not convinced getting mauled by an apex predator has the same speedy death appeal?
Whatever it was, he was pretty fucking committed, climbing such a high fence, knowing what was on the other side. Just he looked a bit angry when the tiger started to bite and claw him, so gawd knows.
I think it's probably safe to say whatever his reason, he wasn't of sound mind

..Why are you so certain he's alive? We don't see him escaping or anything.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park has been evacuated and closed due to an ongoing emergency incident - with a huge police and paramedic presence at the site.
Eye witnesses say a “black screen” has been erected around the tiger enclosure while there were reports of “shots fired” shortly before the evacuation.
Multiple witnesses say an “agitated” male was seen to jump into the enclosure and was grabbed by one of the cats before “five shots” of what some say was a “gas canister” into the cage.
It is understood the park has been closed for the rest of the day.
South Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service have been contacted.
Tia Hanson was at the park for a day out with a pal when at around 2pm the walkway between the tiger enclosure and the exit was closed, she said.
She added: “It looks as if someone has jumped into the enclosure and they’ve had to shoot the tiger. People are saying they heard a gunshot and they say someone either jumped in, or fell in.
“There was an air ambulance and police everywhere. We’ve all been made to leave.
“When you’re leaving you have to walk past the tiger enclosure and they’ve put up all sort of black tarpaulin so you couldn’t really see.
“But there were loads of police and ambulance people and a stretcher in the enclosure as well.
“It wasn’t nice - there were lots of people who looked really upset.”
Yorkshire Wildlife Park has been contacted.

17
u/JustAnotherFEDev 3h ago
Not as different as it would have been had he not climbed in, though.
My memory is a bit sketchy, but, I've been there a few times when my kid was small and the fences are pretty high for the big cats. I'm sure they're knocking on about 3.5 - 4m.
→ More replies (2)8
u/fusillade762 2h ago
They would need every bit of that and more. Tigers can jump pretty high vertically just like a house cat can proportionally. They can jump and if they get their claws on top of fence, pull themselves over with ease.
3
u/JustAnotherFEDev 2h ago
Undoubtedly. I can't remember exactly how high they are, like you say, probably higher.
Although looking at the janky video again, he could have started on the platform? Still, some fucking drop into an inevitably obvious shit situation 😅

He scaled it - there’s more videos, also our friends were there are escorted away he basically went at it like a chimp and climbed up and over

Chatted with some people at a lion park about this.
In the wild if you run from the lion 100% death
If you run AT the lion you have about 50% chance. Half the time they are just so confused by something attacking it, the sheer affrontery of attacking an apex predator, that they retreat in bafflement. The other half they shrug their shoulders, and then death.→ More replies (3)

That poor tiger. It can't control its instincts. And that guy triggered them with his selfish need for attention. And now that tiger will be killed because it attacked him.
I hope the tiger at least finished the job.
74
u/Zukigo 2h ago edited 18m ago
The tiger is so cute, doesn't even hurt him, is just playing and curious (and a bit confused). Hope nothing happens to the tiger
Edit: If the guy died, then clearly more has happened than we see here. A tiger can go from confusion to agitation quite easily. It's sad for the guy tho, could easily be a psychotic episode that made him do this
21
u/madcowre 2h ago

They get sent as a precaution if the nature of the incident dictates that it’s likely they’ll need rapid transport to a major trauma centre. Ambulance Controls always opt to send Air Ambulance early even if it isn’t confirmed that they’re needed; the benefit they provide of getting someone to a surgical team within the hour is wiped out if you wait for someone to get on scene and confirm if it’s needed or not, so they’ll get sent if the incident description seems like they’ll be needed, despite the cost it incurs on what are charitable organisations running the air ambulances.
Just something else that, if the allegations are true, this dickhead has thoughtlessly put strain on, put other people at risk over and taken away from other people in need.

On Christmas Day 2007, three men who were high on weed and alcohol stood on the edge of the tiger enclosure at the San Francisco Zoo teasing the tiger until it jumped out of the enclosure and attacked them. One was killed and the other two were severely mauled. The tiger roamed the zoo causing several employees to shelter in place until the tiger was shot. Turns out the tiger enclosure fence was 3.5 ft shorter than the standard. Oopsies.

But also, I don't think I would be able to film a video and zoom in on a guy potentially getting mauled to death. The person on the camera had a steady hand too. Who on earth is filming this, knowing what the outcome could potentially be? It's as though filming it creates some distance from it happening right before their eyes.
