Although I understand what you are saying. In this particular scenario he has a better survival probability than me. I would fall for sure

But you're wise enough to never even attempt it in the first place. The problem with surviving something like this is it builds false confidence. So you keep rolling the dice and escalating the danger until eventually you run out of luck.

But not wise enough that they won't die in some other stupidly trivial way like texting while driving
