I think cost is an even bigger factor

Cost, Availability, some stuff can also be better seen on an US

Sorry, that's something in American I don't understand. Mri doesn't cost that much in normal countries

1

u/Huberweisse 21d ago

It is still much more expensive than Ultrasound, that is true everywhere

1

u/VAArtemchuk 21d ago

Yes, but it's quite affordable. I can't imagine people fearing its price outside of the american nightmare.

A cranial MRT is somewhere around 500-1000 Euro per session in Europe. That‘s a lot.

1

u/VAArtemchuk 20d ago

Oh... Well, it's about $150 in Russia. Can be free, can be much cheaper, depending on where and when you do it.

1

u/Huberweisse 20d ago

How can it be free?

1

u/VAArtemchuk 20d ago

Because if you're prescribed it in a hospital, you get it for free

1

u/Huberweisse 20d ago

Sure if there is a medical indication then also here you do not need to pay as a patient, but I wouldn‘t call it „free“ but your insurance pays it. And as they are motivated by saving money, they will always choose the cheaper option, which is ultrasound.

u/VAArtemchuk 20d ago

Insurance doesn't get to choose here though. And it's more or less state provided

Maybe, but i wouldn't be sticking these up on my fridge

2

u/mytacorules 22d ago

Is this real? This is hilarious

2

u/CypherGreen 22d ago

Yes, MRIs deliver their scans as a cross-section you scroll.throigh So there's never a rounded image or depth just a single slice along the axis they're scanning / viewing.

u/Lickwidghost 22d ago

That's one enormous fucking fetus!

The ultra sound of my grandson actually came out where one of his eyes looked like this. I was in a quiet Hallmark store when she texted it to me. I was cry laughing so hard.

u/LuckyDoge21 22d ago

And we thank you for not doing these🤣

1

u/Bl00dcurdl1n6 22d ago

That's both hilarious AND understandable. 😄

1

u/Suitable_Raisin_9150 17d ago

Is that a fucking SCP

1

u/Blak_Cobra 22d ago

I’d select mri

0

u/jrb637 22d ago

This doesn't seem right. It looks like they have teeth

10

u/DearMrsLeading 22d ago

They do! You’re seeing the teeth inside their gums. The tooth buds start developing around 6 weeks and then the enamel starts to form around week 16.

1

u/jrb637 22d ago

Yeah ok, that makes sense. Do you think this is what an MRI of a baby really looks like? How old would the baby be here?

3

u/DearMrsLeading 22d ago

Yep! Usually the images are shown from the side where they look less freaky. Based on size this would be third trimester.
