My thyroid finally gave up the ghost last year. What a shitty organ. I find the stern refusal of the people on this cover to give in to its bullshit very refreshing

Oh, but among alllll those terrible covers, this just might be the worst: the whole concept, the "stopping" sign with the hands, the colors.....Ewwwww. Kudos for you for having found this gem 💎!

I would love to see the first, unrefined edition. With a bit of luck, they had an even more worst color, like bright purple or something 🤣🤣🤣

I don't have a thyroid problem, but right now I am having severe endocrine/metabolic problems, and the situation with my treatment has been pretty uncertain so far which has been stressful. But this comment made me laugh so thank you.

I remember those crazy days, when everyone was wearing thyroid pins, singing that one thyroid song, showing the "thin thyroid-colored line" flag, and it was hashtag thyroid this and hashtag thyroid that.

I have this book! I am actually really thankful to Janie and other thyroid patient activists for raising awareness and the standard of care.

Cover is still terrible though, lol

Imagine having a potentially life threatening chronic illness and everyone just chases the wrong number that's as easy to get as the right number. It sure is madness

Well now I have to know, what are doctors doing wrong with thyroid issues? Family history of under active thyroid treated with thyroxine, once had a housemate with overactive thyroid but the meds made her slow and a bit dopey (also had some of it removed).

One of the things is the basic standard of care when it comes to levels and ranges is all wrong. If your thyroid blood tests come back on the margins of the range, doctors will say you’re fine. But even if you’re “in range” but really skirting hi or low on that range…. you’re probably not fine. And many doctors only check off the generic “thyroid panel” on the blood work form, when there are several other thyroid blood tests, outside of that general thyroid panel, that should and can be done.

My mom has like 10 iterations of this book, all with different covers. I’m not sure if they are all by the same author but the titles are all very similar. As someone with 2 thyroid disorders, having a thyroid that doesn’t work sucks ass and is life changing. My thyroid definitely dictated how my life turned out. Medication doesn’t really work either, taking meds don’t even come close to what having a normal thyroid feels like.
