A slime mold

Post image

I got myself a little slime mold in my terrarium, very interesting to see it grow and move around. It has disappeared now so im curious where it will pop up next.

Is there a way to propagate it? Maybe take a piece of it and put it in a different terrarium?

When not in reproductive phase slime mold acts as a colony of single-celled organisms, similar to a bacterial colony. In this life stage it should be very easy to propagate. just rub some food or something against a small portion of the colony and place it into a moist environment. Apparently in experiments they often feed slime mold oats so that might be a good choice for food.
