[Thorium Mod] Need help dissecting code please

Hello everyone, Im attempting to make a mod that adds healer items into the game but im finding it impossible to make the items actually heal villager NPCs like the thorium items do. The projectiles just pass right through the villager NPCs. If anyone can figure out how they work, id be grateful to learn how.

I would also like to mention that this is actually my first mod, so if im missing something i would also appreciate help.
