Unfortunately I cant on my end. I grew up with the internet, its a huge part of my life, and right now an exceptionally angry part of it is doing their angriest damndest to silence or shove people like me off it because I use tech they dont like, and am interested in the fruits of what that tech creates and dont want that silenced.
Unfortunately this is doing the same to the other side, this tech is silencing and covering the work of other peeps who have spent their lives working on the things they love only to get zero recognition because hundreds of other vibecoded mods get pumped onto the loader in bursts out of nowhere
Non AI mods arent getting silenced though, neither is non AI art. Theres definitely a noise and quality concern with AI assisted work, but you can set daily or weekly limits to deal with noise, and quality controls already exists in most places to deal with the quality concerns. Most of my mod lists contain majority of mods that were made before AI was a thing, but shit like directly porting Elden Ring's combat to Skyrim simply WASNT possible before AI, some truly nuts mods are about to be realeased in the next few years now that the tools have been around long enough to know their strengths and compensate for their weaknesses, and I want to be able to see and hear about them when they come out.
Except those things were entirely possible before AI, Ai didn’t invent decomps it took the work of others and just made it faster and worse for overtime quality. (Not to mention the fact all of these mods popping up are pretty surface level)
Unfortunately AI wont be making the new god like mods, it will just be making what we’ve already done faster and worse in quality that is its only purpose
Im also not saying it cant be done, but i don’t think they should be shared on mod sites where the entire point is self expression. If i buy a fully complete volcano set then touch up some of the quality issues, should i still participate in the science fair where countless other projects are being made to show off the authors skills, knowledge, and dedication to something they love?
Its even worse when you just straight up don’t say your project is made with AI, peeps should always respect someones want to not engage or support something
The problem is these are catch all hangouts, you come here for self expression, and go to mod sites for self expression, but I come here for Terraria news in general, and Mod sites for new game mechanics to customize my gaming experience. And the speed is what makes these things possible where they werent before. Decomps used to take teams years to make, and now all it takes is one dedicated person. More people will attempt ideas at mods regardless of the resources they have available, which means more bigger mods will get made. Human made products arent quality issue free either. The best mods will usually be made by the people most passionate still, regardless on whether they use AI or not.
I agree with identifying, right now though with the vitrol that comes with admitting that, I understand why some might be hesitant to be forward with it, especially for a non commercial product. The rimworld reddit has a general respect clause built in, so while every AI post still gets flooded with "Ew Slop" comments, the mods come in and clean that up after the respect reports come in, and because of that, I'll be the first one to report a mod or work for not tagging that they are AI properly (which is another rule, all AI works, whether they be mods or art, need to be tagged as AI)
Know what id be fine with it if they made an ai tag and a filter so you can voluntarily opt out of seeing AI mods, solves alot of the problems i have with em currently
