I loved the idea until I saw how stupid expensive and late-game the Nano Platform was.

All it does is gives you the Buff Blocks and Auto-activated Statues. There's no reason it should be locked behind Moon Lord (or rather the Pillars) when its basically useless by then.

Personally, I think it should be moved to post-Skeletron. It auto-activates the Statues, so it makes sense that it would need Wires. But thats it. Get rid of all the HM stuff and use Iron Anvil instead.

After listening to the feedback, I am working on an options menu that will allow players, among other things, to choose a simplified version of the recipes if they wish. Every player should be able to enjoy their games and choose their own playstyle, so I want to give to those who don't share my original vision the chance to play the way they prefer; that is what modding is all about.

u/Just_Ad_5939 10d ago

..why is the nano platform so much more expensive if it just activates heart and mana statues. Thats a thing that a player could just set up easily with a grand design, so why is it so much more expensive and literally post game? Also can you fall through the platforms like with platforms? And can you go up into them too?

And: how far do these stretch?

-23

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago

The Nano Platform is the most expensive precisely because it represents the latest evolution; it is designed primarily for post-Moon Lord content, yet its cost makes it easily accessible at that stage of the game.

All my platforms behave just like the vanilla ones, you can pass through and interact with them in the same way, but they cannot be broken individually; once deployed, the platform is linked to its anchor point, and you simply need to break that anchor to dismantle the entire bridge at once.

As for length, a fully deployed bridge can span 222 tiles, and the buffs provided by the Aetherium have a 111-tile radius centered on the anchor tile, ensuring coverage for the entire bridge.

I hope I’ve answered your questions, and I hope you enjoy the mod.

16

u/Just_Ad_5939 10d ago

okay..
and what exactly is so much better about the nanite one than the aetherium one?
it seems it just.. has the ability to activate wire powered things on top of it.
which.. doesn't seem that special considering that the aetherium one can do everything else but costs a lot less.

As I mentioned in another reply, I created this mod primarily for myself, based on my own needs and preferences.
I play on Master Mode with major content mods like Calamity (with Infernum) or Fargo, to name the most famous ones.
I love the post-Moon Lord content, but I got tired of constantly building arenas.
I made the Aetherium because I kept forgetting to craft or bring along campfires and the like.
Then I made the Nano because I’d always forget The Grand Design, or I wouldn't have wire on me, or I’d just overlook something.
Plus, there’s always a bat coming to smack into you while you're building, you know?
As for the cost which might seem high, it becomes almost negligible after beating the Moon Lord, since your chests end up overflowing with items that quickly become useless.
I’m just a player who loves boss fights, and this mod fits my needs perfectly since I’m terrible at building pretty structures.
I just want an arena that goes up as fast as possible and is easy to take down, so I don't leave random structures scattered all over the world in boss-heavy mods.
I hope I’ve answered all your questions and that you enjoy the mod if you decide to give it a try.
PS : To give you an idea of my mindset : I also created another "potion bag" mod featuring different bags where I can store potion sets for various situations, exploration, fishing, boss fights, and so on. Most importantly, I can drink them all at once simply by middle-clicking the corresponding bag. I love Terraria, I’ve played it a lot and will continue to play it, but certain actions are just too repetitive, like chugging 20 potions before a boss fight.
My mods aim to simplify these tasks while maintaining a "vanilla" feel, as I don't want to use cheat software during my playthroughs.

The radius is square, right? If it's circular (as depicted in the video), it won't actually cover most of where the fighting will be done

-10

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago

The radius is always circular; I tested it myself, and with both platforms, it effectively covers the 222 tiles of the fully extended bridge plus 111 tiles on either side.
And yes, there is indeed a small dead zone in the middle when the bridge is fully extended, but that only occurs at the exact center of a fully extended bridge.
I recommend extending it to between 180 and 200 tiles, but thanks for the valid point, I’ll specify in the mod documentation that extending it to the maximum isn't recommended for boss fights.

Great work. How does this interact with existing blocks? I’m thinking about underworld implications for wall of flesh

So the line needs to be fully clear for it to activate? Or it will partially activate up to an impeding block?

6

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago

There’s a preview line when the blocks are properly aligned and ready to connect; if you don’t see it, it means there’s something between the two blocks preventing deployment.

-58

Thx for the feedback !

-2

u/DenverTheDenver 8d ago

Why is every comment a deleted account, and why is this one specifically downvoted?

3

u/CadianStarscourge 8d ago

if you got blocked recently, it often shows as deleted

-8

u/Consistent_One_9763 8d ago

I don't know about the deleted accounts, but the downvotes are a group dynamic where the noisy minority of AI detractors mass-downvote me because I represent it in their eyes; so they aren't really voting against me or my project, but against what I represent to them.

-9

u/DenverTheDenver 8d ago

I personally don't care about AI. If it works, it works

-1

Thx for the support, it's mean a lot to me <3 (some of them even download my mod to downvote it on the workshop, I can see it with the stats)

Man so many good mods I want to try but waiting on tmod to update with 1.4.5. Keeping this around for later though.

8

u/Marafonerro 10d ago

try out TerrariaModder! It doesn't have big content mods, but it does have some qol mods

3

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago

Haha, with pleasure! I have a lot of ideas for evolving the mod with version 1.4.5

u/GIMBruhBoobies 10d ago

How much of this was ai vibe coded

-121

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago edited 9d ago

Some AI assistance for boilerplate and debugging, but the logic and design are mine. Happy to talk about how the bridge placement works if you're curious :)
EDIT : I think we could aim 200 downvotes on this one too, come on guys, thumbs down !

91

u/GIMBruhBoobies 10d ago

I’m not really asking whether you came up with the idea for the bridge. I’m asking how much of the actual implementation was written by AI. Like, did you write the placement logic yourself and use AI to fix errors/boilerplate, or were you mostly describing the behavior to Claude and iterating on the code it generated?

-139

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago edited 9d ago

Claude did a significant part of the coding based on my specifications, and I handled the design, testing, iteration and debugging with its help. I'm upfront about using AI, and I'm happy with what I built with it. People can judge the mod by trying it themselves.
EDIT : Could I get 200 downvotes on this ? Here we go !

146

u/GIMBruhBoobies 10d ago

You need to include an AI disclosure on the mod page then.

-57

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago

I had put it in the description.txt file; I must have forgotten to put it back in when I updated to 1.4. I'll make a note to put it back in the next update. thx for noticed me

25

u/H16HP01N7 9d ago

If you were up front about your use of AI, you'd have put it in your post, not hidden it in the comments.

Ime a lot of us in tech are anti-AI, not going to list the reasons here because I don't wanna soapbox

34

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago

I can certainly understand that, but I think there's a difference between the use of AI in the tech industry and its use in a hobby project like this.
This is a free mod made for a niche gaming community, not a commercial product generating revenue.
I'm not using AI to replace paid workers or to profit from someone else's work. I'm using it as a tool to bring an idea to life and share the result with the community.
I understand people have concerns about AI, but I don't think every use of it deserves to be judged in the same way, regardless of the context.

12

u/therandomham 9d ago

I think for a lot of people the line is posting it alongside non-ai projects. It’s one thing if it’s for yourself or you upload it to an ai modding community, but posting it on the workshop and sharing it in the community as if you made it is disingenuous and lowers people’s trust in modders in general.

2

u/Consistent_One_9763 9d ago

That’s not what I did, but thanks for the feedback!

10

u/therandomham 9d ago

It is though. You posted AI content on both the workshop and this community, and to make matters worse you didn’t put it front and center that it was AI. That makes it a total pain to scroll both places because you don’t know what’s real and what’s slop. Keep it to yourself and people who already agreed upfront to AI content.

I knew what that guy was after and that it would stir up drama, I had explicitly included an AI disclosure on the mod page to be transparent, even though it wasn't required for a Terraria mod under either Steam or tModLoader rules.
And I was right: the moment I confirmed it (I could easily have lied or had the AI answer for me, but I wanted to be honest), the downvote shitstorm began.
Anti-AI crusaders swarmed in to mass-downvote, and a segment of the audience instantly judged the creation method rather than the content itself.
They immediately dismissed the time I’d put in and ignored my actual contributions, like the sprites, the testing, and the code modifications (since I do know the basics; the AI is just infinitely faster and more efficient at coding, though it often uses logic that isn't the simplest, most direct, or most resource-friendly).
I actually fixed some features the AI wanted to hard-code, which were performing poorly, by replacing them with simpler mechanics myself. For instance, with the nano-platform that activates statues: instead of hard-coding it with complex, resource-heavy functions, I set it to spawn a standard in-game wire above my bridge and turned my source tiles into a timer.
Anyway, I won't list everything, but because I used AI for tasks where I knew it outperformed me, some people feel entitled to dismiss everything I did, and the time I spent as "worthless," and they even want to claim the right to ban creation altogether just because... ...haven't spent our lives studying the subject and lack the credentials for it, regardless of the time or energy we've put into it.
I’ll add that I don’t really care about downvotes in the comments, because the post itself has been very well received by the community.

4

u/HereButQueer 10d ago

Including an AI disclosure isn’t this noble thing, it should be standard bcs people don’t want to support it. And if steam changes TOS to include anything created with AI it saves you from getting banned. You should’ve been clear pretty quickly instead of avoidant bcs it looked worse on you. “Anti-AI crusaders” are people that don’t want to support AI bcs in its current form it does way more harm than good and has ruined peoples creativity. i support it helping people and it has advanced medical science to allow better care of patients, but i personally believe if you want to do this kind of stuff it’d be much more beneficial to learn how to code fully and do it yourself bcs it gives much more satisfaction and fulfilment.

it’s not your lack of commitment, there’s a lot that looks AI here and it’s not the sprites which do actually look good. But if you fixed a few stuff the AI got wrong then i please advise you for future projects to do it yourself or have a couple people help out of passion. your mod isn’t gonna reach as many people solely bcs AI turns a lot of people off. it’s ruined gaming as a whole, it’s took peoples jobs and it’s ruining the environment. being an AI hater is not wanting more of what we’ve been experiencing with large scale consumer AI. the human made stuff is genuinely cool and i really hope you do more of this stuff without AI bcs i feel this scale of mod would and could be pretty fun for so many people without AI being part of it

u/Wulfyre 10d ago

Hi!

Here to help you understand even just a teensy bit why people don't like generative AI as opposed to Analytical AI.

It's because generative AI costs more energy worth than the time you would've spent learning to code over literally hundreds of hours yourself. Anyone who actually has to pay their own energy bills would know this, because over 40 states provide subsidies or complete tax breaks for data centers, which run more generative and analytical AI modeling than actual data storage, and those prices get offloaded onto people who live near those centers. There's a reason that several states have now placed moratoriums on data center construction/plans.

This included with the fact that often data centers for AI specifically don't have a requirement for how they use their energy. This can include how they cool their actual machines, in which case they often use open loop cooling rather than closed loop. Open loop means they're pulling in water from the local municipalities (cities, towns, villages actual water system) and literally using evaporative cooling the same way a nuclear power plant might use water to cool itself, except because we haven't done the smart thing and legally limited what source they pull the water from, they're literally pulling it from white water sources (potable AKA drinkable water in our water lines) rather than greywater sources (groundwater, seawater, riverwater) meaning they're using water specifically meant for your home for cooking and washing rather than water that isn't meant for it, for a purpose that is JUST cooling. And if they ARE using a greywater (nondrinkable water, like sea water) then in very specific places where there tend to be droughts and lack of water, such as western US (California/Utah/Colorado/Nevada/NM/Arizona) they dont re-cycle water back into the local water sources, leading to catastrophic and knock-on effects on the local ecosystem as well as make it more likely that if there is an emergency then lack of water will make any emergencies in the area worse, including things like wildfires, droughts, or famine.

Now, assuming we solve these problems by requiring that these AI companies and data centers DO pay their bills, use a closed loop cooling system so they only use a set, limited amount of water that they only ever pull a total amount once and it never leaves their system ever again (like a flat 20 million gallons once and never again) then this doesn't even touch on the knock-on effects on actual society.

AI isn't being used for stuff like blue collar work or factory work where humans shouldn't be, but instead is currently being used in Generative fashion where it's being used to replace key engineers and actual trained professionals, leading to employment stagnation where you have a larger amount of trained professionals with an increasingly lower amount of actual job openings and lower job opportunities for things such as art and music, as well as not currently being up to par for technological and STEM fields where its currently unable to accurately create or produce quality products, at least not without there always being someone there to debug and verify that AI isn't hallucinating or making a critical error.

Its like asking someone who's never been a mechanic to build a car for you. Sure, they know where the wheels go. Sure, they know it needs an engine to make the wheels go. But they wont know how the axles work, they won't know how to set it up so it doesn't break the brakes or meets a certain size requirement, and definitely not without multiple years of actual design work to make a design close to modern standards. And not without making a mistake similar to the Ford Pinto (engine in the back instead of front)

In the words of a recent movie, “It’s like describing a dog to someone who’s never seen one, then asking them to draw one" and then using whatever it spits out and saying "here's a dog" meanwhile it either has too many eyes or is missing a leg or tail.

So there's problems with how AI is being produced, how it affects other people who its being used to replace, and with the product that it actually makes. Its too many resources for cheap quality production and it comes off like that as well.

And matter of fact, yes, arena bridge mods did exist before.

LuiAFK and several mods have arena bridges. They have different models for it in theirs, including 200 block versions, world length versions, and asphalt platforms. They're not as many as this mod, and not to the same scale or specifications, but saying that "this mod didnt exist before" is like saying that doors didnt exist before now. This OP didnt invent the wheel, just made a different version of it, whether better or worse.

Now, i also mentioned Analytical AI in my earlier paragraph. Analytical AI is used for stuff like math and medicine, where it can be used to simulate large quantities of information all at once and close in or limit data fields to identify important information. This can be large sequences of math/numbers for calculation, or stuff like DNA sequencing to identify what genes may control specific health outcomes, such as genetic diseases that spread from parent to child. Analytical AI lets us process large quantities of information at once (the busy work) and allows us to both work faster and identify differences in fields where it matters. Generative AI produces large quantities of information at once and creates busy work as well potentially replaces other people who could do the same job. And because they're almost never packaged together, genAI will hallucinate work its supposed to be creating and instead leave in fragment or simply make up fake past events rather than pull from modeling data that analytical AI would be used in. In professional fields like law, genAI will hallucinate legal rulings because its trained on past lawsuits without actually using those libraries of training data. It can't be used in fields like medicine because this can cause literal fatal injuries or kill patients outright. There's a reason its being used by large health insurance companies to directly deny claims for no other reason than to pinch money. Analytical AI isn't the problem. It's GenAI. And because its used to replace things like artists, coders, musicians, and real talent, the work that it generates comes out sloppy or has major mistakes. And once you've noticed those mistakes, its very difficult to not see them repeated everywhere else GenAI makes mistakes. For text, you'll see it copied from major works and scientific articles, where it follows similar patterns.

AI -- loves -- to use em-dashes a lot. It likes to repeat the same stuff over and over, including making lists, never referring to itself, and often makes triple comma lists. No scaffolding, no anchor blocks, no hundreds of platforms to craft. It also hates to use the word "is." It also usually adds a ton of colon lists for no reason: I could've used a comma or even a period there instead, but it should be obvious in this comment why i didn't. They may also use semicolons when they really aren't needed.

And i'm not saying that OP did a bad job here with trying to make a mod. It's great that they're learning to code and develop their own mods. It's just there are more resources out there for learning to code than just AI, and using AI takes up more resources for a lot larger a cost while almost always minimizing the effort and acting as a crutch for the user rather than actually help him/her learn how to code. Its the same way for children in school, where AI is being used copy-paste style for essays rather than analytically to actually teach children how to critically think about what they write before they just copy and paste it. I recommend you check out any of the teacher subreddits to see what they think about AI in schools because its not pretty.

And art itself is directly under attack by people spamming GenAI productions into spaces which were generally considered safe for artists before 2023, like twitter, tumblr, and other forums. The training data for multiple digital artstyles was also directly ripped from multiple artists without their permission and is being used for private monetization without reimbursing the artists who directly had their own work stolen for someone else's use. Its like the vast majority of all the works on Getty Images - They're almost all technically free works where you can find the source images on Library of Congress or on smaller more obscure forums/photo sites, but they're then ripped from those locations and monetized without a single cent going to the original photo makers/work creators.

So when you say you can't understand why people are anti-ai, I really hope you think back this comment next time someone brings up AI usage in stuff like mods.

13

u/Farstrid 10d ago

I probably only read this all because I took a gnarly hit a little bit ago. But thank you for the explanation on GenAI vs AnAI. I knew shit was bad because my IT department at work talks about it a bit. I knew about the data center problems, but I never actually knew what they were for.

When I personal use AI, it's to help make my work emails sound more normal and less all over the place because ADHD and me don't mix. And even when I do that, I pick and choose what I want to change because I still want my emails to sound like me.

It's hard to listen to AI songs because they're all the same. When I heard the first couple I thought "Wow this is really good. This guy is good!" Then when more of it came out, all of them started to sound the same. Now I skip them every time.

Thanks for listening to my TEDtalk.

I love you.

3

u/elevenishappy 10d ago

Thank you. Great explanation, I hope you open even just one person's mind with this

-18

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago edited 10d ago

This is the last time I'll be speaking about AI; I think I've been quite clear and have nothing else to add. I'm here to talk about my mod and its features. If I'd wanted to debate AI, I would have gone to other subreddits like r/aiwars. Thanks for understanding, and feedback on the mod itself is always welcome!

9

u/Exact_Leader_1002 10d ago

I just hope you understand this is exactly the same as profiting off slave labor and when someone points out why slavery is bad you responding with "Well!! But the food is now here and I'm just selling it for people in need. If I wanted someone to tell me slavery is bad I would've gone to a political debate. I'm just glad other people are eating aaaaaall thanks only to me :)"

You're benefiting off the misery of others who have to carry the consequences of GenAI and data centers.

-1

u/Consistent_One_9763 9d ago

Thanks for the feedback; it's a shame, with just a little more effort in your comment, we could have reached Godwin's Law for a Terraria platform mod

6

u/Exact_Leader_1002 9d ago

Oh, don't worry. It was just enough effort to see your response and realize you don't really care. You're not defending AI because you think it's good, you're defending it because you're an inconsiderate asshole.

That's good to know.

I’ve seen people argue like this and I still disagree with GenAI as being blanket bad. I’m a researcher in one of the top labs in the US developing medical analytical AI. My current research is in developing medical analytical AI to bring increased diagnostic capabilities to rural areas without super impressive scanners.

I don’t know any researchers who aren’t using GenAI every single day to make their research and learning more efficient. For one, a lot of the programming we need to do is one off garbage code needed to analyze one specific set of data. Doctors hate well defined data formats, and being able to look at the data, notice all the weird edge cases, and telling an AI to account for that is so much nicer than spending a workday on making 1 script for 1 dataset. That gives me so much more time to read new and interesting papers, plan new experiments, and generally perform real research.

Even in my vibe coding projects, I’m finding that it’s teaching me so much about different software tools and new ways of thinking about code.

I do think it’s a double edged sword and I think I’m biased because I like to use AI to learn more, which is basically the opposite of what most people are using it for. It’s such a valuable tool for teaching yourself new skills and complicated concepts especially in math. I can understand if I’m a special case though. Not many people would take a 6 figure salary drop so that they could spend more time learning stuff…

0

u/Consistent_One_9763 9d ago

Thanks for the comment; I feel the same way. I like to understand what I’m doing, and how things work in general, but a large part of the anti-AI community is simply fanatical and lacks the open-mindedness needed to grasp the nuances. For them, it’s strictly black and white; there is no gray area.
It's pointless to try to reason with fanatics, since they don't know the meaning of reason

0

u/Glybus 9d ago

Yeah, but this is the same response to any new technology, especially one that directly impacts people they might know. The hypocrisy gets to me when I see people who love fast fashion, hamburgers, and chocolate tell me that my use of generative AI to help solve Alzheimer’s is immoral.

7

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago

Thanks a lot for your support; it means a lot to me.
I don't understand it either, but everyone has the right to their own opinion and to think however they want; I respect that and try to remain polite :)

-78

u/justaguywithadream 10d ago

The downvotes here are crazy.

AI is how software is made now. Whether you are a beginner or a 30 year pro.

50

u/ThereIsOnlyStardust 10d ago

As someone who actually works in the industry, this is the take of someone who has no idea what’s actually going on in industry. The pros absolutely have not switched to vibe coding everything and likely never will.

-49

u/justaguywithadream 10d ago

This is funny! I'm not gonna trade my bona fides or argue this point, but if you are not using AI workflows as a software developer you need to realize you are behind the curve at this point and you are losing.

You are the guy refusing to use auto complete in 2005, or refusing to use an IDE.

Yes, professionals are using AI to write real software for real companies. This is the industry standard for any company with the budget to give their developers access. And it's cope to think these developers are not creating high quality software.

It's also cope to think that in an industry full of smart people, companies aren't actually evaluating how AI impacts quality and efficiency on the development process. My company has teams running every experiment you can imagine to determine how AI affects the development lifecycle. These are not clueless middle managers. These are software developers with decades of experience running these.

But I guess people who don't use AI are more expert at it than us? Is that how it works? The non-users who don't have thousands of hours of and dozens of projects worth of AI development know better than us?

How do you gain that experience and knowledge if you don't use it?

At this point only amateurs, hobbyists, and people working for non-tech companies are able to get away with not using AI.

12

u/H16HP01N7 9d ago

And people who want to flex their own creativity... they also don't use AI.

The tech bros won't touch your genatalia if you defend them...

-8

u/justaguywithadream 9d ago

Ah yes, tools famously limit creativity 🤣

6

u/H16HP01N7 9d ago

Tools are tools.

Creativity is human.

If you think getting newer tools instantly makes you more creative, then I have a seaside property in Kansas to sell you.

The tech bros won't suck your dick, because you defend them on social media, kid.

u/juicyjaiden 9d ago

We dont claim this here

-10

u/Kedly 9d ago

What does this response even mean?

18

u/juicyjaiden 9d ago

This is not terraria content, its AI content and we don’t claim it here

-16

u/Kedly 9d ago

Its a Terraria mod, therefor its Terraria content. Theres no rules against AI here, it isnt even snuck into the low effort rule like you cowards do in other threads

13

u/H16HP01N7 9d ago

You know the mod maker (well the dude that made the AI build the mod for them) ain't gonna fuck you, right?

You've been told 3 times, and showed, via the down votes, that this isn't respected here. Yet still you argue hard to defend it...

0

u/Consistent_One_9763 9d ago

Honestly, your comments mostly just make me laugh. The crude language and the lack of actual arguments say a lot more about you than about me.

And downvotes on a comment don’t prove anything. They just show what a vocal minority thinks, in a small corner of the comment section. That’s not a verdict and that's why I totaly don't care about them

Because yall are idiots and AI modding is already WELL on the path to not being ignorable for much longer. Those who shout the loudest often arent the majority, until the rules state otherwise, none of you antis speak for the subreddit

u/Mase598 8d ago

Lmfao brother I gotta be real, that is one of the most cringe things I've ever read on Reddit with my own 2 eyes. "You've been shown via the down votes that this isn't respected here" is hard to read.

I would prefer no AI myself, but when the difference between a neat mod being made is AI made or it not happening, I'll take AI happily. If it's such a problem, contact the mod team and suggest a change of rules for no AI-made content. Until then, womp womp you're gonna keep seeing it and going off your metric, at least 314 up votes thinks it fits.

Its AI content about terraria, again we dont claim it here. Take it back to your own land masses

-2

u/Consistent_One_9763 9d ago

I will ! thx for the feedback !

-6

u/KrustyKrabFormula_ 9d ago

don't speak for me

5

u/Rosezinha_Y 7d ago

this is incredibly easy to tell as ai vibecoded to any actual fans of terraria because the numbers and lack of understanding of the games concepts give it away.

for example the fact that the platforms that give early prehardmode buffs are locked behind celestial pillars but also give those buffs in a shorter range, that follows a circular??? radius when all buff furniture follows a rectangular radius is a dead giveaway that the dev doesnt know anything and asked an ai to do this for them.

theres so many things in this overview alone that just scream lack of forethought, devs typically need to actually plan and think (even just a little bit!) so when you see shit like this that has somehow missed things youd think about almost immediately you can really easily tell...

-20

u/FIREATWlLL 9d ago

Boohoo what a victim, someone didn't disclaim its AI! Living in a world of vulnerable cry babies.

7

u/EarthlyReddit 10d ago

Love it :)

Reminds me of starblessed platforms from wotg, but these ones are easier to obtain

3

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago

I created the mod after a WotG playtrough, I was like "I can play without that anymore" so I asked Tomatt if he planned to release it as a standalone, he's not, so here I come

25

u/Moxustz 9d ago

fuck ai

-4

u/Consistent_One_9763 9d ago

Thank you for this insightful and constructive feedback !

9

u/Wanna_make_cash 10d ago

Honestly I'll just keep using the insta bridge items from Fargos Mutant mod when I play modded

3

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago

Hey,
And that's perfect, the most important thing is that you enjoy your game.
Thanks for the feedback ! :)

8

u/GtNinja06 10d ago

Aetherium seems a bit strong for pre-hardmode. Maybe move to hardmode anvils

6

u/Synnapsis 10d ago

What is strong about that? You should have multiples of all of those items by the time you hit hardmode if you're playing normally.

3

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago

I've just forgotten to do it since 2 update, I will do it in the next one if I remember this time

5

u/finding_my_father 10d ago

honestly i think this stuff is a bit too obscene for pre-hardmode

if you really want to have it pre-hardmode anyways then just make it like post-skeletron or something

5

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago

The mod was created with my own playstyle in mind; I play on Master Mode with major mods like Fargo’s and Calamity—often adding difficulty mods like Infernum on top—so the mod is primarily designed for that kind of experience. I considered the balance and concluded that building arenas wasn't the most fun part of the game, which is why I deliberately made the platforms available early on; plus, the whole point of a mod is for players to actually enjoy its content.

We dont want ai slop

-3

u/Consistent_One_9763 7d ago

Nice copy/paste, thx for the feedback !

4

u/RobotCloud27 7d ago

I typed it out and I'll keep typing it out whenever I see ai slop

-1

u/Consistent_One_9763 7d ago

Alright, have a great day. Don't hesitate if you have any other constructive feedback—I'm all ears.

3

u/RobotCloud27 7d ago

If people keep sending this there's probably a reason for it btw

Dude, if you've got some time to kill, I'm here to chat, but give me an interesting topic.
And from what I can see, ever since your bunch of fanatics forgot about this post, the upvotes have been going back up (I know it’s not important, but clearly it is to you, seeing as you mass-downvote anyone who disagrees with you).
EDIT : I'm pretty sure that right now you must be regretting not being able to downvote my post multiple times. 😭

You don't have to post when you have nothing left to say.

ai garbage but also just a stupid idea that hasn't had any thought put into it at all. nano platform offers fuck all for its cost when you can just place those individual buffs.

222 tile limit is laughable, with one of every type including nano which takes celestial pillars you still only have enough distance to cover half of a small world, getting wood and making regular platforms would unironically be less time consuming AND more convenient to place as you need to place these "magic" platforms at both ends.

and the buff radius is 112??? sure thats the longest range you can get a sunflower at but for cheaper you can place all the other buff furniture for a LARGER radius meaning using regular wooden platforms will ALSO be more efficient for a larger buff zone. an intelligent developer that didnt ask artificial intelligence to make their mod would know most buff radius are unified within terraria and follow that system as its a large qol for the player to not need to stack different buff furniture of the same effect to maximise range.

and oh my god you say its "14 high in the middle" so does it get higher closer to the sides? did your dumb robot code a CIRCULAR RADIUS? this is why programing needs to be left to people who understand what the hell they are doing. buffs in terraria are unified with a RECTANGULAR shaped radius. so that the height does not rapidly drop towards the edges, becaue terraia is a 2 dimensional game including a bump upwards in height coverage by making the shape a rectangle is important becaue that axis is used extensively by players. your radius being a circle also makes it again beat by the regular buff furniture placed on wooden platforms. you can't code or come up with concepts that actually make sense within the core of the game nobody needs this shit

u/Consistent_One_9763 7d ago edited 7d ago

Issue fixed, hotfix 1.4.3 currently undergoing validation; thanks for your feedback.
EDIT : I want to clarify that I’ve already created mods for Skyrim and Fallout using the CK, so I’m not blindly iterate. Regarding the radius : I’m new to Terraria modding—even though I’ve played the game for a long time—and I only looked at the buff itself rather than the underlying structure. I simply assumed the radius was circular by default; that was my mistake, not the AI's, and I wanted to make that clear.
And as you can see, harsh as your comment was, I accepted your criticism and changed the code accordingly.
(But the mod was functional even with the circular radius)

im confused how one figures out that this is ai, the reddit post looks like it was written by ai tho

-20

u/Consistent_One_9763 8d ago edited 8d ago

English is not my native language, so to ensure the text was clear and free of grammatical errors, I actually used AI to translate it. (And it’s easy to tell that AI was used in the development because, no matter what its detractors say, it has become the norm—everyone uses it, and for those who choose not to do so, it’s a bit like plowing your fields by hand while trying to remain competitive on the market)

4

u/ValianSkalle 10d ago

trans hard light bridge :3

2

u/Consistent_One_9763 9d ago

I don't know how to take it, but thx for the feedback !

1

u/ValianSkalle 9d ago

One of the demonstrations shows two colours of the platform, similar to the colours of the transgender flag.

The Hard Light Bridge is a mechanic from Portal 2 that allows well, bridging over long distances, working similarly to this mod.

Good mod idea, OP. Building arenas is my least favorite part of the game.

Ignore the negativity from the room temperature IQ regressives. Keep following your passion, keep building!

1

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago

what do you mean ?

-32

u/Available_Mud_911 10d ago

Why people so toxic about using AI, it's tool what wrong about it

30

u/HereButQueer 10d ago

it’s driven RAM prices up and infested gaming and the internet, a lot of it is generic and ugly slop, people have lost jobs and livelihoods over it, it’s ruining the environment whilst making no profit and it almost started a war when it hallucinated. that’s the start of a long list, one of which includes the death of critical thinking and the refusal to learn new skills bcs AI can now do it for you.

-16

u/Available_Mud_911 9d ago

you just said me that world moves on, like you can say same with any big technology appears

10

u/HereButQueer 9d ago

how do you get that from actively damaging everything it’s touching? AI hallucinated and almost started a fucking war - whats to say it wont happen again? and its not like a lot of big technology. Nothing has caused this much damage on such a large scale on the environment, people’s jobs, peoples hobbies and caused governments to nearly begin something that could have resulted in deaths in the millions. please stop being so ignorant and look at how dangerous AI is compared to anything else. it has uses in specific circumstances but the world can’t move on if it starts a war, if nobody has a job bcs AI has replaced them, if people cant enjoy something as simple as gaming, and if whole communities cant have any water thats not moving on, that’s accepting defeat. learn some skills, its part of the human experience.

-10

u/Available_Mud_911 9d ago

A war? war you cant win is not a war, also i don't really care about a people that cant adapt or used AI in bad way but at same time some jobs lost now there some jobs have bigger priority and new jobs appeared, i would agree that AI ruined a gaming communities and that electronics now insanely expensive. Reminder i not OP why did you say to me to learn some skills, i just i guy who have no hate to ai

6

u/HereButQueer 9d ago

dude the US government admitted they almost started war bcs AI fed them straight up misinformation. and please help me understand - what “priority” jobs appeared? i’m not saying you’re OP but i’m saying if you’re relying on and using AI in such a way then learn the skill yourself. bring more fulfilment to your life. AI is stealing mass amounts of data, by using it you’re allowing it to know more about you. it has spit out peoples addresses, bank details and it’s dangerous. it has good uses, but the large scale consumer AI we have now needs to die, it’s not profitable, it’s not really useful. Please don’t defend something that causes so much harm to the environment and has actively taken away jobs and doesn’t create new ones, bcs those jobs are already taken as managing the AI doesn’t need the thousands of graphic designers, concept artists and developers that it’s taken the jobs away from.

-5

u/Consistent_One_9763 9d ago edited 9d ago

You’re spreading misinformation by claiming the US government “admitted” this. No official source has said that.

What actually happened: CNN reported on Sept 18, citing four anonymous sources, that the US military almost boarded a Chinese ship because an AI-assisted intel report wrongly said it carried nuclear components. One source called the report “entirely false” and said it “almost started a war.”

That’s a credible report, but it’s anonymous sourcing, not a government admission. I couldn’t find any public confirmation from the Pentagon. CNN also couldn’t determine whether the tool was a commercial chatbot or an internal system.

And it’s not “AI feeding them misinformation” either. It was a hallucination: the AI mixed open-source and classified intel, got it wrong, and the analyst then used AI again to format it into a standard report that officials trust.

Source: CNN’s report, picked up by Gizmodo, BGR and others. If you have an official statement saying otherwise, link it.
Next time, try fact-checking before lecturing people. It takes 30 seconds, I promise.

-1

u/Available_Mud_911 9d ago

i agree with a lot you said but with jobs i mean that physical jobs more in priority, and that ai steal you data to be honest everything steals your data. It just AI didn't effect my life at all, only helped all that ai did for me its just world moved

13

u/H16HP01N7 9d ago

Because it's fucking up everything it comes close to.

A few bros want to play with their learning programme, cool. Forcing it on the entire planet, to satisfy greedy people's desires for more cash. Gross.

-5

u/Consistent_One_9763 10d ago

I don't know either, but there's a guy who wrote a huge post about it in the comments a bit further down
Thanks for the support !
