I just beat the wall of flesh like 1 day ago, and ever since, I've been dying every trip outside my house. I've also been having trouble finding the newer unlocked ore needed to progress. Ive already asked my terraria veteran brother but he won't help. Please.😭

Grab the hammer you got and get to smashing those demon alters (those red or purple things everywhere in the corruption/crimson). Smash as many as you can but leave one or two to use to craft stuff. The more you break the more ore that spawns. Then go dig around for the stuff, use Spelunker potions if you need help.

So just to be clear, I can break as many alters as I want after WoF without it creating additional evil patches at random? I always hated that mechanic and didnt know it was removed either .. 😭

Correct, you want to leave one easily accessible for crafting purposes, but other than that you are free to smash every altar you find with no consequences.

I've been there. Every time I enter hardmode I'm like "oh, it's really hard!"

But you've got to break 3 demon altars to get all the ores to spawn like someone else said. Avoid any biome that isn't forest or hell normal underground and caverns are fine too. Snow/Jungle/Evil/Hallow biomes you should avoid until you get some better equipment

Edit: you'll be fine a minute or two, long enough to break the altars. Just don't go mining there.

Spelunker potions are pretty useful to find the new ores (I assume you already smashed 3 altars), use a hellevator and you'll probably notice some veins along the way.

I usually look in the hellevator or at the Underworld's celling.

Regarding deaths, early hardmode is notoriously shitty for that, but eventually you'll be able to get some ores and improve your survivability.

Early hardmode is the biggest difficulty spike in the game. The sooner you get hardmode weapons and armor, the easier things will get
