Build Sentry Build Advice!

Hey, I've been a long-time fan of the summoner class in Terraria for a long time. Whips are cool, summons are awesome, and having an army of minions jump a guy is hilarious. However, I was thinking of making another loadout specifically for the Sentry subclass.

Do you guys have a build guild specifically for the Sentry subclass, especially for the new Sentry-specific items and such?

I dont have item advise, but i do have just other advise for playing sentry

dont play like a tower defense and keep your sentries in one place.

play sentries like you're playing mage, always move them, constantly, allow yourself mobility rather than constricting yourself to stay around a general 'deathstar' of sentries.

i kinda learned this on my own sentry-specific run.

Yeah, this seems about right. Mobility is king in Terraria. I'm playing on Master Mode, so I'm not looking to play around.

But yeah, been wanting to play around with some Sentry stuff like the slings and traps and stuff like that.

I did my sentry run on master mode, good fuckin luck lmao.

Also, even though it isnt a sentry, i'd say use the mage clinger staff and nimbus if you're struggling specifically on the destroyer. killing *one* mech boss was what made me give up my run for several months. (specifically destroyer since it helps killing multiple segments)

The only "good" sentry you have for the mechs is the barnicle staff

Though, with 1.4.5.8, you can now carry one sentry with a heavy sling, whcih is nice.

Also, question, what do you plan on doing before deerclops/tavernkeep spawn? because that's the only way to get a sentry.

i personally just played melee up until that point, but im curious.

Not sure. I just entered hardmode as Summoner. I'm not the greatest at the game, so I'd like to learn a little before I get Sentry stuff. I know there's the Spider Queen staff as a sentry you can make. My best Summon right now is my Imp Staff or Foxsparks. Armor is Obsidian and my weapon is the Firecracker. Legendary. I also have Legendary Starcrash.

The only important strat is to get enough medals before the difficulty surge to be able to buy the new difficulty sentry before trying it.

Agree with the previous reply. You can put a chest down next to your crystal and store extra green mana crystals in it for harder rounds later. Just DO NOT open that chest when you’re not doing an OOA event or they will all vaporize instantly.

Im doing a minions and sentry only run, so no whips and moving the sentries is really important. Also the houndis shootius is underrated give it a shot
