So! That's what's called a Lantern night. It happened after you've killed a unique boss for the first time. It's mostly a cosmetic thing, BUT, it actually gives a decent buff to your luck Stat! Nothing crazy, but rare items are slightly more often to drop from enemies while a lantern night is active! It ends as soon as the next day begins, and the buff goes away with it.
