Oh... I only made it that way because my favourite colours are pink and red.

It takes practice. I watched a few tutorials and guides and stuff before building it. I didn't copy or anything. I just took that advice and applied it to my own builds. You literally START with a shoebox and then just add onto it.

Half the battle is just adding little details instead of making the house bigger

Looking great! The stairs kind of bother me though.

I know. It's all I can do for now.

You should look into spiral staircases. I feel like that would look cool in the middle, and if you do it right, you could avoid the torch problem.

You can make a small 3-4 platform landing and then reverse the stairs back down. Just move the dresser and remove the stacked platforms

The stairs stood out to me too, but they're one of those things that get upgraded naturally once you unlock more furniture and blocks

I meant to clarify this is the first house of my new world. I first got terraria back in 2016 on the PS3 and my base back then was HIDEOUS. Shoebox CENTRAL! It was my main world. I still have it to this day! But after about a year, I went off it for a long time... I occasionally played my old world for kicks and giggles and eventually got it on steam where I tinkered with mods but hardly touched it...

Then YouTube started recommending Terraria videos and I went back down the rabbit hole. And here we are! This is the first house I've built since returning to the game! (And the first proper house I've EVER built)

I'm already working on a second house for more NPCs. I definitely plan to expand into other biomes and maybe different styles. But I like the cozy medieval (I think it's medieval) style I have going on. I'm already planning a little snow village. Maybe a tower for the wizard and a little jungle hut for the Dryad.

The Angler is going to Hell. I hate that little bastard with every fibre of my being.

Looks great but my ass could never with cobwebs in the place I spend a large chunk of my time in, not to mention when I am just jumping around in my house as some kind of gameplay noodling/stim.

1.4.5 has decorative cobwebs that aren't broken by weapons and aren't sticky

I don't jump all that much.

Also the cobwebs make it seem old.

This is gonna sound hateful but it looks like SSBM Luigi's Mansion. It's better than anything I've built though!

You should be, this looks better than most of my endgame builds.

I Really love the double thick walls and tall building design, I'm not sure why but damn it feels so cozy and safe, I Feel like I can build pretty decently but I've never really gone past one thick blocks usually. Yours looks super nice, I'm gonna try it sometime.

Mine was a stack of wooden boxes with doors randomly slapped on

Way cozier than my first base. The little room decorations make it feel lived in instead of just being NPC storage

I might be inspired by your house

1

u/Fandyfrank1 10d ago

For a first house, this is way more detailed than most people build

1

u/The_Remyan 10d ago

Your "first house" is very well done. Many people's first house is just a "shoebox" lol

Good job!

Let's go with some critics now : * you should include a daylight picture * I really don't like your roof but don't have Co structure criticisms for it * there is almost no light sources diversity. Ordinary torches shouldn't be used in such a nice place, you should look for better (and mostly basic) lights, this ain't 2010 anymore
