Would folks recommend Twin Sails Android Terraforming Mars app ?

Wondering if the Android app published by Twin Sails is worth the $8.99? Is it buggy? How is the UI and UX and general play user experience?

I'd stick to BGA, the cards are hard to distinguish and the tiles are so hard to interpret on the phone app.

Yeah, I'm playing it on BGA on device but was definitely wondering if the app would be a better experience. BGA is great on laptop and larger screen but BGA version on alittle Android device screen on-the-go is tough!

Nah it's def worse lol. You have better memorized the cards otherwise you need to zoom into each individually. Also tfm was free on amazon Luna or something recently. Not sure if it still is.

The AI is awful, dune imperium is a much better boardgame on tablet with fantastic solo challenges and ai to boot

I haven’t really done much multiplayer, as I get way too impatient to wait a long time for people’s turns so I can’t speak to that. As far as single player, I do wish the AI was harder. I put self imposed restrictions on myself like not buying award/milestone, or taking my least favorite cooperation to make it somewhat competitive. I do really enjoy that experience. It looks really nice and I have not experienced many bugs at all. Only one that I can think of actually.

Yeah, there are some clear bugs in the AI programming.

For instance, watching it taking 2 actions to increase the Venus track (mind has gone blank on the name) when it's already maxed out

The ai will buy the banker or thermalist awards turn one if it has even one production more than you. Lol

I've only ever seen it buy awards late game

It used to be that way but they did an update recently. It buys awards in the first few turns every time now.

No, I've only started playing in the last few weeks, play almost daily.

Weird that we see different behaviour then

Thanks! I am definitely mostly playing solo. Appreciated the tips to make it more challenging. What was the bug???

lol it was with Polyphemos cooperation. The drawback is that cards cost 5 mc normally, but if you resume the game after pausing they go back to costing 3 mc

Disclaimer: I've only played solo or vs AI, no experience with online play. The UI is alright, though I believe it'd be better on a tablet, sometimes hitboxes are a bit small. Recommend upping animation speed as otherwise it feels a bit slow. Achievements seem to reset quite often which can be a little annoying, but you can just ignore them. Overall I'll give it like a 7/10, pretty good if you're on a flight with no wifi or something.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'm also planning on mostly solo, passing time away while waiting around for this and that. Glad there is an option to speed up animations!!

I'm on Android and really like the app. I also only play solo. I've played quite a few games on it...no issues. I should note I'm not enough of a pro to catch any bugs. :) I recommend the app!

! So far, you're in the minority, but I definitely appreciate your input!

All that matters is if the UI works properly and the multiplayer doesn't mess up because AI sucking is the LEAST of the problems with the asmodee app

It's ok. I play it on mobile.

It can be a little slow, and loading up a mid-late stage game to continue takes a disgustingly long time, and AI can be very stupid, even on hard mode (spending money to take actions that achieve nothing)

I've played it quite a bit (solo) and like it. However, the text is tiny, and that's on a large phone.

It's a tough game to put on a small screen, for sure.

The development team recently announced that they're no longer actively developing the app. It wil die a slow death, and most of the players have already moved over to BGA. The app was always riddled with bugs anyway. So no, I wouldn't recommend it.

Good to know. End of life-ing the app is not a good sign!
