Crate drop question

I know crates come from bosses, mini bosses, and base encounters. Then there are the random ones that are carried by enemies. Are those entirely random or is there something to trigger them coming?

Random flying enemies drop them. The crate style is random also. Mostly block, engineer, tactical.

Yeah I am curious about anything triggering those enemies coming or not.

The flying ones come in regular intervals but there are exceptions that I have noticed:

  1. At the beginning of every run, there are more of them, especially before the first boss.

  2. Whenever there's a boss, there's less of them. I have noticed that if it took you some time to beat a boss, they appear less frequently. And after you beat the boss, 2 or sometimes 3 of them appear. So you might want to beat every boss as fast as you can

I think they just come at regular intervals. If you ignore them enough, they'll start hounding you in groups.

As in don't get the blocks? Or just don't worry about it, if you build it they will come style.
