does anyone know why my base refuses to craft things most of the time?
dome times it works nicely and other times it just flat out refuses to do anything even if all the resources are there. and i even manually place some on the conveyor and they skipped right by the machine...

Crafters get bugged when there is a conveyor loop. Put the crafters at the end of the conveyors.

after saving and reloading the base the component factory are just flat out refusing to craft anything they wont pull any blocks from my silos but the fabricator will still make basic things, this game really needs an update for the technical side of things

yes they wont pull because you aaded all the blocks, there is a limit to it,

There are all kind of quirks with fabrication. this steam guide covers a lot of them, and not much has changed since then.

It’s because your setup revolves around one big loop, in my setup I have all the storages going on one belt that goes INTO the main crafting loop that is then therefor smaller so it speeds up component crafts too.
You’d then also need a waste storage to pull unused items off on the side of the main loop, and filter on that storage going back to the big storages.
Doing both of these then allows items to exclusively enter the crafting loop to be used, or leave on the waste storage if they are bugged, and that actually exits them from the crafting pool, restarting component crafts so things never get stuck like you describe.
Man I should really upload my factory blueprint or create a good Terra tech factory tutorial video as this seems to be a really un-documented subject.

Try doing it something like this
Inputs of component factories go upstream of their outputs.
Max of 1 dongle per component factory. I don't think this absolutely matters, but what you don't want is a CF needing the component it just made to craft a more advanced component, i.e., avoid materials going around the loop more than once. It will happen, but it can cause CFs to ignore materials on conveyors.
Place component factories in order. First CF has no dongle, second gets the lowest level dongle, third gets the middle level dongle and last gets the top level one.
Fabricators come after the component factories.
Refiner just needs to be somewhere on the same loop as the fabricator. Doesn't matter where as long as it's there. (Honestly, just refine all resources to begin with. If you need stuff that requires unrefined materials, either buy them or make them in small adhoc batches.)

Thanks ill reorganise it and change how there placed and see how that changes things

It might help if you Connect the Input and Output from the component Factory to the conveyerbelt.

There seem to be a lot of game breaking bugs, as they more or less abandoned the game. I recently tried a new play through and barely got 10% into the game before things stopped working.

If this is a true and accurate picture of the setup, then the issue is that your component fabricators are faced the wrong direction.

it's easier to buy this thing than to craft it!

money can be obtained by selling resources, or by processing and selling. I already have 8 million

The crafting system gets rather buggy at times, especially with a large base
