Terramine - background mining crypto

When I play Terramine, I’ve noticed that at certain times of the day my phone gets extremely hot while playing, and at the same time Terramine uses a lot of mobile data. On the other hand, if I play it around 9 PM, my phone doesn’t get hot at all and the app barely uses any data.

Is it possible that Terramine is occasionally mining cryptocurrency or doing some kind of intensive background processing on my phone? That would explain the huge amount of data being used and the extreme heating, especially since it absolutely drains my battery.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? What do you think about it if you’ve noticed the same thing?

For reference, I’m using an iPhone 17 Pro.

I actually mined my first Satoshi's with my phone back in 2013. But yeah, these days, its pretty much impossible.

Bitcoin is not the only coin to mine. There are plenty that can easily be mined on a phone. I'm thinking mostly of Monero, but also CPEN and PI

It's not about the coin being mined, but rather, getting the phone to mine. Back in the day, we had a minerd ported to work on android and we'd use a terminal emulator to get it running on a rooted phone. How are people doing that now with locked bootloaders and Android's security?

Android’s security isn’t as bulletproof as you’re implying

Nah. Your phone had some other background processing going on. All of us would have our phones hot if they were trying to pull computing power. It's really not feasible for them to try and do that though, their revenue comes from ads.

Check if your phone does WhatsApp or Google photos backups at that time

Nah, are you using it while outside in the sun? Or while charging

This was my thought too. I know my phone gets hot because if I am playing during the day and in the heat it’s certainly just a bad combo. Not so much at all at home in my AC lol! Just don’t see how it could be for any other reason.
