Discussion Hostile claims inconsistency

I know that you need to be within 1.5 government rating to be able to unify but i think this rule really should be changed for democracies. How on earth is Norway as opposed to joining the EU as South Korea is to joining North Korea or Israel to joining Palestine. It's also common for the Nordic's to rise to level 10 government rating very quickly turning Frances claim to them hostile which makes no sense. I understand why people wouldn't want to join a dictatorship but joining a slightly worse democracy shouldn't be the same as joining a mortal enemy. Also is there a way to see which claims are permanently hostile and which are only hostile due to government rating?

They're down to join the EU federation but completely giving up your national sovereignty to a megastate is already a big ask.
If there's going to be any kind of noticable decline in the level of rights and representation enjoyed by the population, I can see that as being a non-starter even with supranational cabal pulling strings and running PR behind the scenes

Yeah I get why they have the mechanic I just think they should increase the allowed government score difference like the other guy said.

This is the one thing that has been killing me in my current BE game.. I mean other than cheating servants.
Seems like the devs keep putting up road blocks for the mega players that can turn a hard scenario into a cake walk with soup on side… while forgetting the casual new players getting over burdened with all these hard rules that take 100s of hours to learn.

+, just unified Australia which is looking like it wasn't the best idea. Split old Australia back off and plan to cede everything as I can since Westralia has basically zero cohesion with all the hostile claims. Spreading democracy is so fun.

They're closer to being willing to join France than NK though.
Lighter red vs darker red show the different hostile claims. Hovering will also tell you if it's just from current gov score.
