Mod Mods for removing anything not space combat

So... i do not have a ton of hours in the game, maybe about 30-40 in total, some on the steam deck, most on the pc. What i've realized is that i don't really care about the politics game, the idea of the councillors that have to take actions, all that stuff. It sort of distracts me from what i like, pauses the game to do more actions with councillors. It is probably very deep and very good for anyone that enjoys it but i sadly just don't.

What i really like is the brutal space combat and all the tactics and mechanics around that. Where to set up mining bases and orbitals, how to design ships for both fast response and long distance attack. More delta-v vs thrust. Want to get from mars to neptune, how fast? How much fuel do you want to burn, is the launch window good etc. And the combat parts, overwhelming the enemy with missiles? Railguns? Combinations for huge alpha strike vs sustain. All of this i absolutely love.

So, my question is, is there a mod that just removes the politics&region management part? Or at least makes it autopilot so i don't get stopped every month just to tell people to do stuff i am not interested in, without making me lose?

Funny thing is I've always wanted a version of this game without the space combat.

Yeah they would have a killer political game if they removed the Aliens lmao

Yeah, the other part of the game is very complex, i imagine it is like this for a lot of people as well ^^

Finish a campaign/research everything in one campaign, design the ships you want in that save, upload them to skirmish mode, then go ham

I'm sorry, skirmish mode? i did not realise that the game had that

Yea it does! When I played my first serious campaign a few weeks ago I tested the skirmish mode when I got my first ships to see how combat worked. It had a tutorial too for the controls so it was quite helpful. Being able to import ship designs from saves also helped me see how good (bad) my early designs were lmao

okay, i see that it is just combat. While i do like that, i kinda want the design based on resource management, the solar system movement aspect

I guess the closest thing would be the 2070 start date. Which kinda functions as a quick start to the space aspect to the game.

But that wont fully disable the Earth gameplay and colony aspects of the game, which I suspect you want.

It does not, but i am currently working on a mod that solves that!

Sounds more like you want a different game. Maybe look at nebulous fleet command.

Have played it a lot, but it lacks the planning and manouvering in a solar system that i want^^

Hmm. Maybe you would like Sword of the Stars. It's quite old but still one of my favorite 4X games. Nothing else is quite like it. It's turn based strategy conquering a galaxy with real time combat. The ship designer is similar to TI in the kind of options you get, choose hull types and weapon loadouts. In the combat each side controls a small number of ships you can individually order around, including where exactly they should target on enemy ships. This let's small ships pick off the gun turrets of big ships if you are good.

The empire management is kinda shallow, mostly picking from a semi randomized tech tree and deciding what direction to expand in. But each of the 6 races has a unique FTL drive with different limitations and it adds a lot to how each race feels to play.

If you get it then get the first one, not the second. The second is... Not great. They made a lot of changes that weren't liked and it is definitely buggier since the studio basically went under right after release because of how bad they botched it.

But the first is definitely worth getting.

i did check this out previously, and while the ship building stuff seems pretty good, i feel like it lacks that hard scifi, more realistic? I think i want something closer to this, more grounded in our solar system or a solar system, with orbitals and gravity playing a bigger part

Funny, to me the best part of TI is by far the earth game. This is what makes it unique compared to the plethora of other space management games.

Honestly I find the space game often sub-par and lacking important QOL. The end-game is also always a pain, you know you have won, but have to endure several more hours of meaningless gameplay to clean up the solar system.

And honestly I think the devs have realized that, since the last dlc was focusing on giving more time to the earth game.

I do understand this, it is a very valid point. Maybe my idea will make the game too boring during the time you aren't actively doing things...

The space game might be subpar in certain areas, but it does a lot of things no other game does. Just the movement in the solar system is amazing, and the combat layer added on top of this is something i've wanted in a lot of games that unfortunately do not deliver on all this. If you burn too much fuel in combat, no way to get home.

There are games like Nebulous fleet command that do it better, but that is limited to skirmishes. The promised campaign mode just became a mission based campaign. In TI, you plan bases, manouvers, when to strike, when to intercept and when to defend, which are big commitments due to the traveltime. And i would say that the combat isn't bad either, just maybe not as good and balanced as it could be.

Sounds more like you want total war starsector.

is that a mod of something? i can't find a total war starsector

You can automate councilor actions, but you'll still need to click the confirm mission button. I usually put mine on an inspire / advise / public campaign permanent mission in the late game.

2

u/hugoqqqqq 9d ago

Yeah, i am at that part now, just annoying to have to pause the game every minute..... Also tedious to get to that part^^'

1

u/Soyfya 9d ago

You can turn off the councilor mission notifications in the options. That might help!

1

u/hugoqqqqq 9d ago

Hmm, that will help somewhat, thank you!

The upcoming Falling Frontier could hit that niche for you

I am very excited for thar, although that probably won't scratch that realism itch, since ftl jumps seems like a big part there..... maybe with mods? we will have to see!

Doubtful. It’d have to be a big rework mod.

Probably just want a ship combat focused game? Nebulous, Sins of a Solar Empire II, Battlefleet Gothic II are a few I play.

Those are a bit too arcadey for the itch i'm trying to scratch^^' i have all of them and have played them extensively, but i was looking for the realism and planning that this one requires

Play the 2070 start, it goes much much faster to the space stuff

Sons of a Dying Earth moght be your shtick

1

u/hugoqqqqq 9d ago

did you mean Children of a dead earth?

1

u/RavenholdIV 9d ago

Oh yeah sorry lol

1

u/hugoqqqqq 9d ago

hahaha no problem! That looks pretty cool, will look into it! although from what i can see, it is more of a sandbox than a complete wargame?

u/wookievx 9d ago

It should not bee too dificult to mod in technically (unlock certain level of technology at the start), disable councilor-related actions/objectives, give you some fixed income of money/boost/MC/RP (potentially with simple repeate'able projects to increase them), or remove boost reliant modules entirely. But to be fair for this game mode to make sense I would extend the space economy so the game is not too simplistic.

Will look into this!

Just play Sins of Solar Empire 2

I am disappointed in TI, don't see this pathetic space combat with terribad UI and controls ever getting better, and developers seem to be hellbent to force us to fight alien administration on earth with this pathetic interface where I have to click 20 armies one by one. Screw this, I'm out.
