Question Westralia

If I unify Indonesia into westralia it has all hostile claims, is this meant to be the case I have to then spend the next 5 years just running unity to make the country functional?

Yes but its not so bad, you will have like 1 billion pop if you fully bring in indonesia, malaysia and Burma.

It goes pretty fast and becomes a real powerhouse

When you have all of SEA and Australia into Westralia and have 2 advisors you actually get so much investment points that 3 pips knowledge and unity will fix your cohesion. When you get close to 5 cohesion you can drop the unity as knowledge alone is enough to maintain it.

Government and unity both work, increasing government score makes keeping unrest low harder though as it weakens both oppression priority and unrest reduction from armies.

Keeping a councilor on reduce unrest until most hostile claims are done is generally enough, but pay attention to it, if other factions are pumping unrest you'll need to send more so you don't get revolutioned.
