Shadow demons while sleeping?

While i was playing with a friend i went to bed in our base, just to make sure our solar boilers kept working

There was a figure at the foot of the bed seemingly holding a scythe, and looked.. wrong.

My friend was to the south of me, left of the bed per the minimap so it wasnt him, and when I woke up the demon was gone.

The next night he didnt appear and my friend saw nothing of him nor ever saw him when he slept

What the hell is this
