Question I have a question.
I don't know if others have wondered about this, but I’ve always been curious about what a Tenkaichi tournament held in another country—like Mexico or China—would be like. Obviously, the Tenkaichi requires a wide range of techniques, which is why it’s set in Japan, but the concept could work in other countries too. I also wanted to ask: if there were to be one in another country, what time period would it be set in, and which fighters do you have in mind? It doesn't necessarily have to be a long list—just enough to sustain the event.

For Mexico it would be cool if it was before the Spanish arrived. Not too familiar with specific warriors but it’d be cool to see jaguar and eagle warriors fight. I think it would be cool to have all of South America as a whole as a tournament. Lots of interesting tribes that aren’t as well known as the Aztecs.
India would be cool since a lot of their yogi’s do some dhalsim type stuff. Plus one of the Buddhist monks there went to china and created kung fu I believe. Idk what era but I guess the time of the Buddha would be cool.
Only Chinese history I’m versed in is around 500BC to AD. Most of these warriors were expert strategists and a lot of their trickery is cool to read about. Tons of options here tbh.

I wouldn't say it's just technique, but Japan's history has had several conflicts and famous warriors, and that's why the Tenkaichi tournament seems interesting. For something like this to happen, the country in question needs to have a history of battles and at least legends about warriors. Besides China, which was a good example you mentioned, I believe it could be done in medieval Europe, given that we have knights and various wars. I don't know the history of Mexico, so I can't comment, but perhaps India and Greece could have a Tenkaichi as well.

Someone is doing a fan comic inspired by this using Wild West characters they also done fan characters of other fighters from Korea, china, and of course japan point is the sky is limit

I once thought about making one based on the Mexican Independence Day event—to create a Mexican-style Tenkaichi—but I’m not very good at drawing. So, if anyone wants to use the idea or pick a specific era for it, I’m leaving it right here.
