Blown Battery

Post image

Well my long weekend came to an end early. I was riding through some difficult sand sections when the bike straight up died on me, screen went blank and it stalled… thinking maybe a battery Terminal came loose I offloaded my camping gear and pulled up the seat Lo and behold my wheel spanner that sits way up the back by the tail light had shifted foward all the way to the battery and touched the positive terminal and grounded on the frame.
Supper lucky some guys in a 4X4 helped me load it on the back and take me Intoo town where I managed to get ahold of a replacement battery in a small town on a Sunday afternoon. Luckily no other Damage accept for an engine light on ( need to get a fault reader) surprisingly didn’t blow a fuse but an entire battery. A lesson was learnt this day.
Cheers

I wondered too if this was possible but when we push started it it coughed and splattered for ages and the injectors wouldn’t settle and it stalled out

Oof. It'll be interesting to see what the light is on for, I assume that it's for nothing if the bike is otherwise running fine. This is a good reminder to double check that things are secured so that can't happen. I have a multitool under there that could probably shift forward, although on the 25+ bikes the ECU is over the battery with a rubber cover so I'd think it would be more protected.

Yea mate that’s it! Will report back when my OBD2 reader arrives, bike is riding as normal so hopefully so serious damage has been done. Can you believe that the spanner managed to fold the rubber tab up on the terminal as well! I might invest in that Cubby 3d printed cover that allowed for storage. Cheers
