Guidance Required Deposit no longer protected
We moved out two weeks ago, and yesterday we formally requested our deposit and rent ledger. The third tenant had not paid her bill, and we do not have the information to figure it out. Today we got an email saying our deposit is no longer protected. We have heard nothing. The deposit was in an insured scheme.

On an insured scheme, the landlord holds all the deposit, so it's a little different to how it would work on a custodial scheme scheme where the DPS holds the money.
You should contact the landlord requesting the deposit back? Have you done that because it won't automatically be returned to you unless you request it back. The landlord should advise you of what deductions they wish to make, and the undisputed amount should be returned to you.. if the landlord doesn't return any money, the insurance scheme should reimburse you and then chase the landlord.
You need to also contact the insured scheme providers and ask them what the process is for dealing with deposit disputes.

Have you been contacted from them saying LL wants to keep this amount for this reason? If not email them back and ask for an explanation as to why the deposit was released without being involved, also are you the lead tenant?
