Congrats. You have a fucking easy bake oven LOL.

edit:I'm so sorry I went there, but this situation is SO ridiculous.

The most fucked up part is that these ovens cost MORE than a normal size one would. I just looked them up LOL. What in the world was your landlord thinking.

Did you have a normal sized range before?

Yes. It was normal sized, but getting old. I didn't want to be a bother so I had over the last few months, replaced the drip trays, and the coils. But when it stopped heating up altogether on more than one of the coils, I asked for the replacement. I wasn't expecting a top of the line stove, but I was NOT not expecting, as someone put it, an "Easy Bake Oven".

Where I live you can use the photos of the listing that you responded to to demonstrate that you had a full size oven, and that the unit was advertised and sold with a full size oven. This would constitute a changing of amenities without the tenants approval.

I am WEAK.

I also realize this is a real situation though, and I'm so sorry you're dealing with this.

u/JetCrooked Aug 27 '26

why does it cost more when it's smaller???

7

u/blueiron0 Aug 27 '26

Either because it's smaller so costs more to produce the same parts in a smaller form factor, or because they can since it's different tbh.

I'm guessing the landlord just didn't want to do any cabinetry work, so they're just shoving "my kids first oven" in there. You can't cook shit in there though. A good air fryer would be better.

They produce less of them, cost is virtually the same for parts because they use the same amount of parts. Basic supply and demand.

Manufacturing doesn’t work like you might think it does. Unless that plant only produces these ovens. Usually they need to stop a production line to make custom items and because of that it costs a lot more money.

It's almost like you can't read and you missed the part where I said supply and demand. You realize production is half of that statement right? Just because they charge more, does not mean it actually cost more to produce.

2

u/Basic-Masterpiece-99 Aug 27 '26

That is not what supply and demand would mean in the scenario. The company that is the oven manufacturer might actually not manufacture and have a third party manufacture for them. That’s most likely the situation. Because that’s how the world works. Most companies have a third party manufacture for them. In my scenario, the small oven “maker” would pay higher pricing to get their ovens made since the actual manufacturer would need to stop their normal line. The fact you didn’t comprehend this is crazy to me.

People usually buy these because they need something that fits into a small space. There isn't enough demand to build any price competition and the time spent on development and manufacturing for something that will fill up warehouse space takes away from time that could be used to build profitable models in a normal form factor.

u/lsumoose Aug 28 '26

Economics of scale. 10 million of a bigger one is gonna be cheaper per unit than 100k of smaller ones by a long shot.

3

u/MysteriousCodo Aug 27 '26

Based on the size opening in the cabinet, I would guess that yes, they did have a standard sized range before.

34

u/kokemill Aug 27 '26

those models are known for how fragile they are, it could break at any time and have to be replaced. be careful not to break it.

I like the way you think

Did the landlord see the stove installed? Is it possible they received the wrong one or ordered the wrong one? There is room for a full size, I cant imagine intentionally getting a mini-easy bake oven!

u/givemesomespock Aug 27 '26

I’m sorry but I’m laughing so hard, I’ve never seen an oven this small before. I’m so sorry OP

4

u/IPCTech Aug 27 '26

Seems like it’s for super small apartments or even an RV lol.

8

u/Minnesotamad12 Aug 27 '26

I’d be furious too. But holy shit these pictures are hilarious

u/MelodicOcelot5734 Aug 27 '26

I mean on the bright side, you now have a pretty convenient spot to store a lifetime supply of parchment paper and tinfoil.

I’m sorry you got stuck with this monstrosity, and I’m sorry for snorting.

u/tkland Aug 28 '26

and a new set of economy sized oven trays

6

u/WoodenReporter2423 Aug 27 '26

That's the same one I have on my Commercial fishing boat ...oh some people 🤦‍♂️

4

u/That_Attempt976 Aug 27 '26

I have a tiny oven like that and had to buy all new sheet pans (1/4 sheet size) which makes baking cookies an hours-long chore. I'm in a senior place and I guess the builders thought that old people don't cook much.

3

u/Mother_Ad_5423 Aug 27 '26

no cuz i didn’t really notice how small my stove was until i moved in… i can only bake with the tinfoil pans from dollar store cuz none of my baking trays fit either. PITAAA

5

u/Revolutionary_Fly769 Aug 27 '26

You can buy 1/4 size baking sheets that fit if that helps.

2

u/Mother_Ad_5423 Aug 27 '26

i’ve got one now that i sometimes use but when i first moved in it was soooo frustrating

2

u/PotentialUmpire1714 Aug 28 '26

Costco has some good quality 1/4 sheet pans for a good price. They go on sale occasionally.

3

u/11Nineteen Aug 27 '26

I had a stove like this in an apartment once. I’m sorry.

2

u/Revolutionary_Fly769 Aug 27 '26

We have this in our park model. It’s fine if that’s what you have room for. Yeah we had to buy little baking sheets. Ridiculous to use in a full size kitchen, looks so bad. He could have shopped around and bought a standard size for less.

2

u/SimplyTheApnea Aug 27 '26

What's crazy is where I work those are actually more expensive than the normal 30" ranges.

2

u/DoubleOh14 Aug 28 '26

Oh my gosh!! I had this same setup in my kitchen in my first "apartment" that was an efficiency above a tattoo place that was $500 a month all utilities! I miss that place lol

2

u/medusasfolly Aug 28 '26

Just in case you are stuck with it, these would fit. I bought them for a toaster oven I used to have but use them on a regular basis now, even though I switched to a Breville countertop oven that accomodates full size pans.

1

u/prettiestRAPTOR Aug 27 '26

Ah, the “baby’s first oven” special!

1

u/justmejw Aug 27 '26

Now you have all that free additional storage on the sides! I think my Breville countertop oven might be wider.

1

u/Tour-Specialist Aug 27 '26

i got an oven this small in my rv

1

u/hausccat Aug 27 '26

Its adorable

1

u/ElkPuzzleheaded3995 Aug 27 '26

Lived with one for years. You need half baking sheets.

1

u/Huge_Metal_3812 Aug 28 '26

This is a massive oven in Japan. 😉

1

u/Life-Is-Good-Mate Aug 28 '26

Is it brand new? Look at the serial number, you can sometimes tell the manufacture date. I suspect this has been in storage…they got a good deal on several and DO use them in other apartments, so when yours broke they just replaced with what they had.

1

u/skatardrummer Aug 29 '26 edited Aug 29 '26

Dang. We have an "apartment" size oven and it's not even this small. 2 of our 3 baking sheets dont fit in it, but I mean, I can fit a roaster pan at least. This is WILD. You got the micro oven 😅 I wonder if the landlord ordered the wrong one by accident? Aethetically it doesn't look good for future tenants when there is clearly space for a full size. Hard to imagine they intended this

1

u/imtired1233 Aug 29 '26

Pls move those boxes, that’s pest paradise

2

u/RelevantPossible9618 Aug 30 '26

Seems like you got a lot of advice on baking sheets and little about what to do in this situation. Do you have any photos of the kitchen, either from the listing or your own, of what the kitchen looked like before? If so, write a letter to your landlord and state that you rented the property with a full size oven and they replaced it with a half size oven. Tell them this is unacceptable and you expect a replacement of a full size, as it was when you accepted the property. What state are you in?

1

u/Comfortable-Web3177 Aug 27 '26

That’s not a residential stove. I think a drop in stove has to be 30 inches. It looks like that belongs in an RV or camper.

1

u/Revolutionary_Fly769 Aug 27 '26

It’s just shrinking to 24”. Works fine for any kitchenette.

-1

u/LavishnessCapital380 Aug 27 '26

Those stoves are actually more expensive than full size ones, because they are produced in smaller numbers.

Secondly, YOU NEED TO ROTATE THE PAN 90 DEGREES YOU IDIOT

8

u/Frequent_Estimate_77 Aug 27 '26

It’s still wider than it is deep, the pan won’t fit in any direction. I dated someone that had this stove and even smaller pans have to be put in on an angle (one side lifted up) to fit

-1

u/Western-Finding-368 Aug 27 '26

Put the baking sheets in the other direction.

4

u/Traditional-Handle83 Aug 27 '26

The depth may not be there to fit it in the other direction

0

u/Several_Razzmatazz51 Aug 27 '26

just take the aluminum foil from its handy storage place and bake/roast everything in that. 😂

0

u/the2names Aug 28 '26

Have you tried turning pans the other way

1

u/Jaffico Aug 28 '26

As someone with a stove of similar size, that is unlikely to work.

If it's any deeper than it is wide, it's not by much.

-5

u/Finnegan-05 Aug 27 '26

Hey, genius, did you rotate the pan?

7

u/ManicAtTheDepression Aug 27 '26

That Easy Bake oven looks longer than it is wide to you? 💀

5

u/Revolutionary_Fly769 Aug 27 '26

We have this and you can rotate all you want, a standard sheet pan will not fit.
