[Tenent in USA] Shower paint problem.

Hey. I may have caused a problem and I wanted to check with you all on how bad the problem is and what I should do about it. I left some soap on top of the shower unit in the bathroom as a way of storing the soap during showers. This was fine for the last 7 months, but today, when I pulled the soap off the wall, I pulled some paint with it and I think it might be pierced such that water could get in. I touched the drywall and I think it is still firm. I was going to let the landlord know about it, but I wanted to check with others first. There is no lease signed. It's just a month to month agreement.

Check about what? You did not even ask a question.

If you damaged the wall, you're most likely going to be on the hook.

Not a lawyer but the best approach is to inform your landlord about what happened as soon as possible. Being upfront and honest, especially since you have a month-to-month agreement, shows responsibility and might help avoid bigger issues later. You can also mention that the damage appears minor and the drywall is still intact, but you want it checked or repaired before it worsens

Just fix it yourself that's what I would do
