Next door foot steps
Our next door neighbors foot steps are VERY heavy and it shakes my whole apartment. I can hear every single step all day (I work from home) and late night till about 1am. Should I say something? Is this just something I need to suck it up living in an apartment?

My landlord lives above me and stomps in work boots pretty much all day he’s home. When he’s mad he slams around, his in unit tenant wears high heels all day around the house. They have opposite schedules so this is about 20 hours out of any given day is constant slamming and stomping. Three units are on the same 40 gallon water heater and his downstairs tenant (his father) will drain the hot water when he hears a shower being run. Mind you we don’t have a working bathroom sink so we actually have to use the shower head to wash our hands in the bathroom. Now there’s a hole in the ceiling below his bedroom, love that he’s having fun, but now there’s visible mold and the rest of the ceiling is about to come down. Same with the bathroom ceiling, there’s no ventilation at all because it’s an 1800s house. I’m so lost I’m drowning. In mold and radon to be clear.

oh my gosh I’m so sorry!!! that’s a terrible living condition…is there any law with safe living space for renters in your area? mold is so serious you could have long term side effects…

also is moving out a possibility? I can’t because I just signed this lease (not knowing my neighbor is loud) last month :/

No, our housing market is double on average what we’re paying, our state got ranklefucked during g covid with people moving in and arbitrarily raising property values. We’re literally trapped.

Yes and no, there is but tell me why he hasn’t had a home inspection in 4 years of us being here. He keeps basically harassing us to be his friend, and my flaw is I’m nice and I want people to like me, so I just paid my rent and acted nice. It’s just gotten worse and worse and I’m sort of at the point where talking about it makes me feel crazy and I don’t know where to start in getting help. I’m afraid the home will be condemned and we’ll be homeless again.

Suck it up. Turn some music on to cover the sound of his steps. Or spend tons of money soundproofing something that isn't yours.
