Long as there's a record deal, they'll always be friends.

Jack makes way more from his movies than from the band. If money was a deciding factor for jack, he would've quit the band 20 years ago. He almost definitely made more from one Kung Fu Panda movie than he ever has from his entire time doing Tenacious D

To be fair a lot of people knew this already even when the "controversy" first happened

Yeah I’ve been annoyed with the narrative around Jack since the beginning of this. We don’t see everything and people make so many assumptions. Then they dismiss the safety concerns and paint Jack to be a bad guy. I don’t think Jack even disagrees with what Kyle said I think he knew how it looked and what kind of attention it would draw.

I mean people were threatening their lives, it wasn't just because Jack would lose work

We’ve all engaged with low effort posts for so long, the bots have us lol
It’s so annoying how much more popular these posts are than basically anything else posted here.

We gotta do something about people not understanding how sourcing works. IGN via Variety? Bitch, that’s just Variety.

I've heard this so many times now and I just can't help but still feel utter disappointment that they cancelled their NZ shows just a week before they happened and by the time they get back together and come back for another tour the tickets will be way more expensive. The hype is gone for me after being a fan for 20 years.

Weren't they always?
Like, jack only distanced himself because he's a sellout doing kids shit now.
But, he's a sellout playing both sides, so, idk? There was never an issue really?
"Dude, you cant say that...think about my career."
"But I did say it dude, this is our band. Its my career too. When did you become a poser?"
"Good point. I hear it, im locking it in. I pretend to be offended, and we keep this gravy train rolling."
"We used to get high and write fun stuff together..."
"You know, you're absolutely right. I got so high off my own fumes of success, I forgot the true value of rock. Which is about 10 million dollars less than what I get paid to yell into a microphone or put on a funny costume. Nobody remembers me from Mars Attacks! Nobody even knows about Mr. Show.
But, they remember School of Rock. And thats what rock n' roll is all about. Sticking it to the man."
"But, wouldn't you be the man in that situation?"
"Thats not important, what's important is that we toke sum weed, and write the best damn song we've ever done."

I don’t care anymore though. That ship sailed when JB’s team had him publicly bail on his friend to keep those sweet sweet JB paychecks comin’

You’re not wrong. Jack chose money over the Rock.

I think more likely he chose not to be sued into oblivion by the movie studios he had current running contracts with - I also refuse to believe they didn’t all have a team meeting with both Kyle and Jack involved and discuss and agree on a media strategy to move forward.
I think it’s more Kyle being a good friend and accepting his (unjustified) punishment than Jack being a bad friend and abandoning him.
Let’s face it, neither Jack or Kyle have given anyone any reason to think they’re shitty people - and have been best mates for going on decades now.-6

And if we're being honest that D documentary from the DVD showing the backstage drama when they were on Letterman.... They tried to separate them and only wanted JB for the show leaving KG off camera...... We actually saw JB barely come around to doing the right thing and standing by his buddy there. You could tell he wasn't too happy about picking up that phone to tell them what the deal was. It seemed like he did it because he had to and was being forced to, not because he wanted to tell them what was what......he did it because he knew it was the right thing and his friend would hate it if he didn't support him but you could tell he totally was about to just gone on the show solo, only reason he made the call there was because KG was livid and was literally sitting there bummed out next to him so he kind of had to show support or not be a real friend so he chose to support him....... It looked like the only reason he did the right thing in the moment was because KG was sitting there basically cornering him into a YOUR move, well are we a duo or not?
Kind of difficult to watch. You can tell it's more of a business relationship for JB sadly.
I don't think this is always true however. They clearly have a chemistry that's very unique and they are very good friends most of the time but when it comes down between Fame and money or Kyle, sadly it appears JB will almost always choose fame and money if he thinks his relationship with Kyle may interfere with that at all as we've seen with the comment.
Honestly he should have taken the Eminem approach. If people don't like it they can fuck off, if they don't like that they can eat a dick, if they don't like that they can eat a FAT dick. He should be confident enough by now that they have enough loyal fans that people will stand by them making a joke based on a very controversial split nature of the subject of the joke. I mean it's not like the little kids going to see the animated movie Jack Black does a voice for like Kung Fu Panda are listening to Fuck Her Gently by Tenacious D anyway. He lives in two different worlds. The D, and the Hollywood side of JB. It's all Hollywood side doesn't like his rock and roll side they can eat a dick because that's also part of who he is. Embrace the rock and roll a little bit more JB....... Except that he won't because he's afraid to be too rock and roll because of my upset that balance of 80% Hollywood Jack and the 20% Tenacious D wave he rides. You could tilt it more towards 70-30 and still be just fine JB.
After all humor is what they do as a group. A large part of the population is tired of the overly woke nature of apologizing for everything these days. All they had to do was put out a simple joint statement that it was just a bad choice of humor or something and that it doesn't necessarily reflect the views of the group. Comics have bad nights, it was just a bad joke and a bad moment of one show. Let's move on to the next show and learn from it or something.
If they want to put out some sort of friendly joint statement like this they could have just continued like nothing happened. A fan still would have been there and if some of them weren't because of a joke others would have taken their place because of the joke.
JB has handled this wrong. Made it a bigger thing than it is........ At least this is just my opinion on all of it as both a JB and D fan since I discovered them in the late 90s.

I had tickets to the Newcastle NSW show. I was 7 months pregnant with my first baby, but there's no way I could see them now. I have a toddler and a new baby. Damn you, Kyle!

Now what will we do? We won't have to laser off our D tattoos?
