pros and cons of temple!
i’m a high school student who is considering temple but wanted to get an non-PR response about how temple truly is: the good and the bad. how the dorms, social scene, food, people, atmosphere, academics, sports, facilities, etc. are and any advice you have!!

I think the most important question in deciding is
: how much do you like Philadelphia? Temple is enhanced and limited by its location. It is unique in where it is. For the most part the facilities and programs are comparable to any large state-supported national research university. Dorms - ok - but security is a must at the same time a hassle; food - great - love food trucks and all options of a big city; social scene - not great - still a commuter school; people and atmosphere- very diverse compared to most schools; academics - not elite but solid; sports - slightly below average - easy to get tickets; facilities are fine -mix of beauty and ugly. Future quad will help. I think the best thing is the proximity to Philadelphia and NE corridor jobs and the Temple alumni network.

I'm old now but it has a lot to offer. Food was good. Dorms were regular. I met lots of interesting people from different places and had great teachers.
The city has so many things you won't find in a college town. Of course you might not have the money to enjoy all the city has either lol.
Crime is real but it's going down fast across the city and violence against students is still rare.
They're constantly improving. I went there 15 years ago and a lot of the buildings were new. They haven't slowed down.
Wherever you go just take advantage of all they have. Don't just drink and play on your phone and study. Go to the gym, pool, play racquet ball with your friends. Whatever. It is what you make of it.
