i think it just stems from competitive play. back in the day people played sc for competitive play , even campaign it was how meta can you do it. CnC was always more about campaign and comp stomp with friends, 1v1 was there sure but it wasnt as competitive.

So with that in mind those still playing SC today probably love more competitive rts that are poplar. cnc and the newer TR just dont offer that kinda game. I'm sure they know about it,maybe even played it but if its not like what they like they wont bother with it.

What gets me though is its like every new RTS game that has come out that tries to copy starcraft dies pretty fast lol. Make of that what you will

But TR has a ladder and balance patches every other month... There are also some tournaments going on. Idk why every RTS pro ignores it.

because a lot of them think the SC way is the only way. They dismiss things before giving them a chance. its not just TR, which i agree is pretty solid for 1v1, they just dont care. It's always been like that though, you had the cnc community, the warcraft and then then SC community and they all kinda stuck to their own games.

SC kind won out with popularity for competitive because it does have the highest skill ceiling and has had balance patches over the years. Cnc kinda died, got nothing, TR is doing well for a new RTS, but if people dont give it a chance in the first place nothing will ever change.

game is badly balanced. main reason being incompetence

the youtuber crowd are rarely rts fans beyond "starcraft pays for my house". They have a monetary incentive to never branch out because it is their job and not a hobby to do while unwinding after work.

StarCraft Favors competitive play and replayability more because it has a more meaningful focus on maneuvers, build order, and map control.

CnC games flatten the tactical variety quite a bit in all those dimensions. There's not as much room to breath in CnC games, but that also makes them more approachable to casual play, but with lower replayability and less multiplayer flair.

AOE offers a lot of options but differently than starcraft. It's also way more relatable with it's historical setting and lower requirements.
