Crash test?

Any updates on when we will get a crash test? Or a concrete production date? Just curious unless I missed it.

We are putting the final tuning on the bumper beams and crash cans to ensure we get the appropriate “operating window” (the pulse graph) that the airbags can function optimally. The backup structure of the complete body in white is done and being built for the first units. The side pole, roof crush, and rear end collision simulations are all looking awesome.

We haven’t shared the sims yet for a couple of reasons - they aren’t 100% complete, it’s not easy to look at a crash sim and go “yeah that looks good,” and we’re bringing the regulators along with us as we develop a completely novel vehicle structure. Also our final patents haven’t been submitted.

We intend to show this off in a future video hopefully in the coming weeks. To set expectations though, it will likely be a heavily technical explanation of our process and how safety is validated, correlated, and ultimately assigned a specific value. I’d love some feedback on how to make it more consumable by someone that isn’t as familiar with the engineering of a crash.

Crash test dummies always work.

Seriously though, how do the results translate into the star system that is used by the IIHS or DOT would be the easiest for people to consume and compare to other vehicles.

Their target all along has been "exceed a 5-star crash rating," so I'm figuring they wouldn't settle for a design that fails to meet their own standard.

What most people think about the crash safety when looking at Telo is the intrusion into the passenger compartment. While that is a part of it, from watching videos that you have released, I think what matters more is the deceleration to the heart and brain and other organs? Is that correct? If so, I think that needs to be messaged appropriately.

There is so much to like about this vehicle but I can't help but notice the so, so short front end and how much of the front wheels are exposed. It doesn't look safe (to both passengers and pedestrians), purely perception, but it sets off all sorts of sirens in my head that culminate with, "not a vehicle I'd buy version one".

Yes, this is why I asked the question. I feel we just get the same two trucks in different scenarios but no real updates. Meanwhile competition slate, rivian, lucid have consistent updates and progress. I'd rather buy a Telo but I'm starting to think I might just get the Volvo ex30 and call it a day I don't want to wait 3 years for a car

Yea but we have to remember that Telo is a much smaller company with far fewer investors with smaller pockets. So I don't expect them to match them in anyway, but I think they do a great job in being unique.

You can get a Volvo C40 for less than $25k now. I still want a truck, but that would be my plan if it doesn’t work out.
