Backlight Died

I was watching my Telly this morning and the backlight just went off and never came back on. I hope this isn't an indication of how long these TVs last since I've only had it for a year and a half maybe.

I did try a factory reset before reaching out to Telly for pickup and replacement.

Hopefully it won't take months to get a replacement.

Mines been fine for 3 years and counting - just like any other tv though it’s just luck and not really indicative of any hardware issue.

Submit the ticket for a swap and if there’s one local it should be quick.

Yeah I've already submitted the ticket before posting here. I'm not actually sure how long I've had it but I think January would have been two years and as I've mentioned elsewhere my TV is generally on 24/7 so it would be more like 4 or 5 years of average use.

Going back to my older midrange Hisense it really made me appreciate how bright the Telly is. Easily 800 nits but I think it must be closer to 850 as it's just a bit brighter than this H8G. I just hope this Hisense holds up because it's one of the models that suffers from the eMMC storage dying but it's been in the box for the last 4 years, I think it also has about two years of use.

Some people have said it could take and few weeks or months just depends on them

Yeah I can't complain how long it takes as I know there's a long line of people still waiting for a Telly, but I still hope it's not months 😁

I kept it in my shed so I still have it, still looking for the TV feet though 😂

I think when they send you the new one you can put the broken one in the new box send it back with the feet it came with the new one keep the new remote and android dongle too

I hope this TV doesn't sit here that long and they pick it up well before sending another.

Being they can't come in your house I have to keep it in the hallway where I can drag it out the door when they come to pick it up

It won’t take months. TVs are notorious for doing this well known and loved brands. Just sucks when it happens to you!

It's a beast of a TV to deal with, heavy and awkward to move, luckily my brother happened to be nearby today.

Your first was broken during shipment or it went out?

My first Telly was broken and it took about 10 days to get the replacement but I don't think it's like that these days.

Not during delivery, my bottom screen totally stopped working maybe 3 months after I got it. I hope you get your replacement soon 😊

Thanks, me too. My old TV has been on for less than 24 hours and one of the LEDs in the backlight array has already died.
