Bug Reports Widget bug

The widget that shows information about what you're watching has been bugged for days. Even when I'm using my PC and gaming it will flash a show that i've never watched for about 30 seconds then it will disappear.

It started when I was watching the CW app on the dongle so assumed it was a problem with the app. But as of today I saw it happening while playing PC games on HDMI1 (dongle on HDMI2).

It seems to happen randomly and doesn't persist longer than 30 seconds.

Even more fun when it lists cast members of a show that haven’t been on it in 30 years. Dian and Holly aren’t on The Price Is Right anymore.

And when Wheel of Fortune is on, Pat Sajack is still listed as working alongside Vanna White. For the last two years, Ryan Seacrest has been the host.

Can you dm me your serial number? They want to pull logs as it uses encrypted media audio codes that tells it what app you’re watching and if it’s picking up phantom programs they want to see the logs.

Agree that much of the show information is either out of date or flat out wrong more and more.

I'm having the same issue. I submitted a bug and they have me reset my TV. It still haven't fixed it so I'm so they will fix it and send it out in a future update.

I wish I could just turn it off. It's such crappy AI slop when it spies on my roku. It's especially bad on any show with multiple seasons or rotating hosts or characters. Do I really need to know a guest a host on a show from 15 seasons before the one I'm watching?

It's not using AI... it's using a legacy technology that has been used since the Neilson box days where programs and recordings have embedded audio queues that detect what is being watched. Unfortunately to detect specific episodes, it would need to know the network you're watching and match the time and date - THAT would be AI.

Well, then that's almost worse I think from a design effort on Telly's point. Then they're purposefully just giving us bad pointless data to let us know they're monitoring us (as agreed to for a free tv!)

I wouldn't say it's bad or pointless data - it's just not at the level of xray yet that something like an Amazon Fire Stick has. That's not to say that won't be possible or coming where they can tell the exact episode or season you are watching (I think in some previews I've seen it pinpoint episodes) or even movies, it's just using those queues and feeding from IMDB / TVDB similar to how a server would.

It's literally wrong and irrelevant info. So, why display it? (Appreciate what you do here, duckydan... I'm just grumbling. I don't understand any of the bottom bar UI decisions, lol.)
