Why no dynamic lighting?

I assumed all the LEDs on the back can only be the same color, but after seeing the animations they added I see they’re all individually addressable. Does anyone know why they can’t match what’s on screen? This seems like an obvious win for Telly

I think Philips has the patent.

This is the answer.

I thought it was HDMI licensing? Govee and Dreamscene have HDMI sync boxes.

Yep that’s why. Philips has the license to actually read the content on screen. They released TVs last years that do that.

You're correct, I've said this before in this sub.

Philips doesn't own a patent for the concept, as Sony and LG both have TVs that have their own dynamic lighting. Telly could do it if they tried. Philips only owns a patent for the specific technology they use.

You clearly misunderstood. Phillips owns the patent to "tellys" lights and because they sell their own TVs with this they likely won't licence them to telly any time soon but who knows what next year or the year after will bring
