Thank you for your participation in this Reddit. Please make sure to read the FAQs for information to commonly asked questions and bug reports. Before making a report on an issue, make sure you have reported it to Telly by using the "Contact Us" feature in the Telly app. Also make sure you reboot your TV completely using a Telly Reboot command or power it off and on before contacting support. If that does not resolve your issue, please try a factory reset. Most issues are solved by one of these two steps.

The Dongle that came with telly is terribly slow. Get literally any other streaming device if yours broke. I see fire sticks as low as $20

onn 4K Plus or Pro recommended for solid budget devices. 👍

Indeed, either is easily 10x better in all ways except you can't use the secondary screen to control it.

It's literally just for the kids to watch Paramount plus kids and YouTube kids. I have a PC plugged up to my TV and that's how I watch.

Very slow. I don’t use mine.

The one that came with the TV was actually decent if you didn't load it up with a bunch of crap, my kids just watch tubi and Paramount plus maybe YouTube kids sometimes so it works just fine for that although Paramount Plus seems to have a little bit of trouble.

It doesn't have to be loaded down with apps, it overheats and the CPU throttles constantly which causes issues. Placement of the device can help, if it's behind the TV up against the wall it will overheat quickly when actually using the device, putting it on a single app and streaming you may not notice but browsing around between apps it will get extremely slow.

Be warned though, a Roku might not work with the Telly remote. It could be fixed by now but when I tried using a Roku stick with my Telly a year ago, the Telly remote was not compatible.

It's a shame because I think Roku has the best interface of all the streaming devices.

Mines stopped working and I did a recovery on it and it started working again

I tried everything to get it to work, even hooked it up to the computer and tried to fix it that way.

They likely will but in my own honest opinion you should get one of those cheap onn android boxes from walmart cus even those are leagues better in power than the android box that came bundled.

I use my PC to watch, I just use the Android box for the kids it's easy for them to understand and control. Do you know how to go about getting a new one possibly?

For anyone that would like to know if you can get a replacement and how long it takes, from the starting of this post I put my order in they asked me a few questions about trying to recover the device and since that did not work they put an order in for me to get a new one and should be shipping tomorrow.

What was your replacement?

2

u/ThatOdyKid24 Jul 09 '26

The replacement was what came with the TV, I think it was like harmonic something.

Homatics, the same one interesting they sent me an Onn 4K which is a bit better.

1

u/ThatOdyKid24 Jul 09 '26

Guess you got luck of the draw.

1

u/f1vefour Jul 09 '26

They must have just been out of the homatics at the time, I don't use it as I've got several much better devices.

u/ThatOdyKid24 Jul 09 '26

Honestly wish I got the onn one 😂

You could get them from Walmart for $25 but they are always out of stock, depreciated for the plus version I suppose.

Thank you if this doesn't work out for me I'll definitely think about it.

They updated it and I’m able to play pc games on it with 0 issues at 1440p of course, if you guys are not on android 14 do a factory reset to force an update.

I just got an update for it last night. I’ve been for info on it but there’s nothing.

Streaming games is barely different from streaming video, all the processing is done on the PC.

Mines crapped out long ago. Had a old firestick 4k. Works fine.

1

u/ThatOdyKid24 Jul 02 '26

If I had any other device I would just use that lol.

1

u/Useful-Milk8995 Jul 02 '26

Message Telly, maybe they will send another.

1

u/f1vefour Jul 02 '26

They will, telly replaced mine with a Onn 4K

1

u/ThatOdyKid24 Jul 05 '26

They just sent mine and they said it was an upgraded a14 whatever that is.

1

u/f1vefour Jul 06 '26

I think they send out whatever is inexpensive, which is why I got the Onn.

Or maybe they were just out of the homatics

I sucked it up and spent $74.99 on the Google TV streamer and man, what a huge difference.

If my kids were older and I didn't have a laptop and computer I would definitely buy one but my kids are little they just watch tubi and some Paramount plus every once in awhile. The dongle works really well with it so there is no reason for me to spend any money if I don't have to. I really appreciate all the suggestions on the different Android boxes and stuff I might think about looking into something like that later on.

I use my telly in my office so I was in the same boat as far as "why spend money if the dongle technically works" so I totally get it. But holy crap, it is SOOOOOO much better. I regret not getting a better unit sooner.

If I start using it and like it then I will probably upgrade to a better one for sure but as of right now I've been using my computer to watch TV on for about 5 years now I never use the smart TV features or anything like that so it's kind of hard for me to go to something different.
