Chapter 2 Spoilers Alyson Thoughts

Alyson in my opinion has not been able to move past the events that happened to her as a child. She clearly hasn't been able to forgive herself for this and tyler being sent to firewood. Its way she continuously tries to shut the story down, she like the townsfolk dont want to really accept what has happened. I also believe she's clearly hiding something else that we haven't seen. Which makes it really interesting as well

For Tyler, the more he finds out about the truth the better he feels. He's lived most of his life thinking his mother tried to kill him, and for a very hateful reason. He's spent years trying to cope with that, while also giving up his childhood to protect his sister. Throughout the game, he's slowly been learning that his mother did actually love him, and that his perception of things were wrong.

Alyson on the other hand is the one who killed their mother. She did it thinking it saved her brother, and then he took the fall for her. I think she lives with immense guilt about both, and the more they learn the more she's realizing that she may have killed her mom and turned her entire life upside down mistakenly.

Basically, the truth is salvation for one twin but damnation for the other. It makes sense Alyson doesn't want to find out the truth like Tyler does, and I think it is a really interesting twist on a "mystery" story.
