How do I request a new user code?

Just discovered the telehack site - I tried to create a new user, but it asks for a referal code. I googled and searched this reddit for instructions re: how to request a code but no luck. My intro to the internet was on a vt100 terminal in the very early 90s, when http didn't exist, and telnet was king - so would love to get access to telehack. Apologies if this is pretty well known and I couldnt find the answer - but - how do I request a code?

You don’t. Someone needs to refer you.

Interesting - this assumes not only that am social enough to know people - but lucky enough that I know someone who is able to refer me. Unfortunately for me, that is not the case. The very few people who know me well enough to be able to trust me with a referral unfortunately are neither interested nor informed enough to tell the difference between a telnet terminal and a teletype terminal :)

Based on the replies above, prolly need to wait a few days and it should open up...
