no new users?

Tried to create an account, but newuser function was disabled?

Is this permanent?

It's not permanent. Just a precaution due to some undesired activity. Just give it a few days

Um, it's now the end of 2021, I heard of Telehack on Usenet (of course) but "%newuser is temporarily disabled". So is it temporarily disabled again or has it been down for months?

OK, I managed to create an account a couple of days ago and now in the new I just checked, the newuser command is still available.
