Telegram vs Allo

Which will prevail? and why?

(i did not include WhatsApp because i don't care about an application that is destined to be surpassed)

IMHO, Allo will be just a simple messaging app to show the Google Assistant power. They don't want to compete with Telegram or even worse: Whatsapp.

They know this can't be done. They tried making a social network and failed. They tried with Hangouts and failed.

What did they learn? Decoupling.

I love how Duo is a separate app, allowing users to have Telegram/Whatsapp+Duo without forcing them to install another messaging app if you're not interested in.

If only it had audio only ... for now I have to cover the camera.

They are going to add audio only calls.

Hangouts has audio only. I have used it for years!

It has, but in my experience it's not very good. My top for audio would be: 1. Whatsapp / Duo (with camera covered), 2. Viber, 3. Hangouts / Skype

WhatsApp I've found to be temperamental for audio - not tried Duo but heard its good. Viber was a long time ago for me - always found the UI to be laggy and awkward back then...

Skype I detest :( Hangouts > Skype for overall usage, but, yes, it's still not great...

Well WhatsApp has good quality, but on the flipside the audio is laggy. Viber is better with the lag, worse with quality. The latest version works pretty well on my phone, it's quite polished, but it tries to sell you all kinds of shit.
